XXL Honors 15-Year Anniversary Of Tupac Shakur’s Death In Sept. Issue

It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years since Tupac Shakur left us and his music and name still linger in our hearts. XXL magazine decided to give the legendary icon the cover of their September issue and dedicated it to his memory.

The mag’s editor-in-chief, Vanessa Satten spoke with Pac’s biological father, Bill Garland and he opened up about his son’s compassion.

“He really cared for people. I think that’s why he would get so upset when people tried to question his commitment, his love for Black women or Black men. The East Coast/West Coast, you know, that’s a fabrication. I don’t have to begin to tell you that. So when that was questioned, it bothered him.”

The issue delves deeper into Mr. Shakur’s past featuring interviews with his first manager, Leila Steinberg, his ex-wife, Keisha Morris and his stepfather who is currently locked up, Mutulu Shakur.

The Outlawz speak on the passing of Pac’s producer Johnny J and the Quad studio shooting.

62 rappers talk about 2Pac’s influence and impact in hip-hop and in the world. The 2Pac cover hits stands August 16th.
