Foxx Hosting Michael Jackson Tribute

Singer and actor Jamie Foxx has been chosen to host next month’s Michael Jackson tribute concert.

“Michael was larger than life and I have admired him, honored him, joked about him but always loved and respected him… I hope I honor his legacy in a way that would make him laugh and cry,” Foxx says in a statement.

Performers set to honor the late King of Pop in performance include Ne-Yo, Smokey Robinson, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Craig David. Beyonce, who cannot be in the building due to a prior engagement, will perform via satellite.

The preparation for the concert has not been without controversy, with some members of the Jackson family opposing the timing of the event. MJ’s murder trial is still ongoing and will be taking place during the date of the concert.

The shindig also may be suffering from lack of ticket sales as ticketholders have been sent an email detailing a drop in prices, with some ticket prices slashed in half, according to the Facebook group “Fans Against Forever Michael Tribute.”
