Round Hits White House Window
The Secret Service has confirmed that someone fired a bullet that struck the White House, according to the Associated Press. The President’s official security detail says the bullet struck an exterior window of Pres. Barack Obama’s place of residence, but was stopped by bullet resistant glass.
A second round was also located outside. Both bullets were discovered on Tuesday (November 15). Witnesses reported hearing gunshots on Friday (November 11) and seeing two vehicles flee the scene at a high rate of speed. An AK-47 assault rifle was found nearby.
The Secret Service has yet to tie the two incidents together through ballistics evidence.
On Wednesday (November 16), authorities arrested Oscar Ortega-Hernandez in connection with last Friday’s shooting. Pennsylvania police apprehended Ortega-Hernadez at a hotel near Indiana, Pa around noon. An arrest warrant was issued for Ortega-Hernadez on Friday. Authorities say he moved to the D.C. area over a month ago. The 21-year-old was reported missing by his family in Idaho Falls, Idaho on Halloween.
