The Nascar stans obviously weren’t feeling very patriotic this past weekend and made that known to the First Lady of the United Staes.

During a racing event on Sunday, First Lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Joe Biden’s wife Dr. Jill Biden were booed while serving as Grand Marshals.

The booing could be heard in ESPN’s video from the event as  Obama and Biden’s names were announced right before driver’s were instructed to “start their engines.”

Held at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, the two women were there in support of Joining Forces, a campaign supporting women’s leadership within military families.

Things went much more smoothly earlier that day, where the First Lady addressed veterans and their family during a BBQ.

Michelle Obama stressed the importance of gratitude towards our military troops, and emphasized the significance of the festivities.

“Everyone around the country is focused on you. And this isn’t just an effort today,” she said. “ Jill and I through Joining Forces, we want to make this a part of the dialogue in this country forever.

Whether Jill or I are here or not, whether this administration is here or not, this is about the way we want this country to talk about our troops, veterans and military families forever.  We want you to feel that appreciation and that gratitude so that you know your sacrifice is not in vain.”
