Nick Cannon made headlines last month after being hospitalized for kidney failure, stating in an interview he’s had to undergo a strict no-sodium diet as a result of the incident. It appears now that Cannon’s health is also why the entertainment personality and executive is stepping down from his daily, New York-based radio show.

“Under doctor’s orders, I have been asked to put my health first and cut back on some of my professional commitments in order to allow my body to get the rest that it needs to keep up with the demands of my multi-tasking schedule,” said Cannon in a statement released via 92.3 NOW , where he was a morning drive time radio host for the past two years. “It has been an absolute pleasure working with CBS Radio and the 92.3 NOW morning show team and I would like to thank them for their unwavering support. I will continue to host my syndicated “Cannon’s Countdown” weekend show and look forward to contributing to 92.3 NOW whenever possible. Even Superman has to sleep.”

This isn’t a full-on retirement for Cannon, as he will continue his hosting duties for NBC program America’s Got Talent, now based in New York after Howard Stern joined the show as a judge.
