Waka Flocka Reps Say They Are Being Unfairly Harassed By NC Officials
Earlier today, TMZ reported that North Carolina requested that Waka Flocka Flame keep his security team out of the state. However, sources from Waka’s camp tell Hip-Hop Wired that they are being unfairly harassed by NC officials.
The issues stem from a shooting that occurred in Charlotte last February. After being shot at during an attempted robbery near Waka’s tour bus, individuals with gun licenses—Waka’s camp is adamant that they were not acting as security—who were on the bus returned fire in self defense. Not always reported is that at the time of the shooting, Waka Flocka Flame, born Juaquin Malphurs, was not actually on the tour bus. The bus was in Charlotte for a sound system installation, it was parked outside of Car Stereo Warehouse, and detailing while according to his raps, Malphurs was in town visiting friends and family.
Also worth noting is that six men were arrested for the shooting, including one Antonio Stukes who claims he was just trying to give Waka his demo. However, all the charges against these aforementioned individuals pertaining to the incident were eventually dropped.
The cease and desist letter members of Waka’s team were served with by the North Carolina Private Protective Services Board states that if the rapper brings security with him to NC they will be hit with criminal charges. But it’s interesting that rather than finding out who shot at the tour bus, NC is more concerned about making sure that their own security ends up getting that check.
