If it wasn’t already hard being a Knicks fan, it seems that team chemistry is about to take another kick to the nuts. Only a few days after getting fined $25,000 for tweeting a picture of Tahiry’s assets, a report from the New York Post says that Carmelo Anthony advised against signing J.R. Smith. The talented, but volatile shooting guard previously teamed with Anthony in Denver, but when front office management approached Carmelo about the signing, he balked.

A couple of weeks before the signing, Anthony was asked if the Knicks should sign his former teammate who has a thuggish reputation. Anthony and Smith share the same agent, Leon Rose.

“If it happens, it happens and I’ll be happy,” Anthony said publicly before the signing.

But, according to the source, Anthony was not gung-ho and was “hurt” Knicks upper management tossed his advice out the window.

The New York Knicks, who are currently on a five-game losing streak, will take on the team with the best record in the NBA tonight, the Chicago Bulls.
