Justin Combs earned a football scholarship to UCLA that covers his $54,000 annual tuition. However, CNN debates whether or not taxpayers (UCLA is a public university) should get a break considering his pops, Sean “Diddy” Combs, can easily pay the tuition himself since he is a multi-millionaire.

“It’s a meritocracy,” said CNN Education correspondent Steve Perry, who is in favor of Justin keeping his scholarship. “No matter who your father is, whether he be rich, poor, or absent… You can, in fact, be successful on your own merit.”

If Diddy wants to donate that $54K to say a charity, cool. If not, that’s cool, too. Who are you to tell another man where and how to spend his money when he earned it? Same way Justin earned his scholarship by putting in work on the football field and in the classroom (he graduated high school with a 3.75GPA).

Peep the discussion in the video below. Do you think Diddy should pay his son’s tuition out of his pocket anyway?
