Production team the Kickdrums are officially off A$AP Rocky’s Christmas list, for now. The Harlem rapper took to Twitter to call out the producers for what he feels was a misrepresentation of his art. Late yesterday, what was thought to be the full version of Kickdrums produced A$AP track called “Ridin’,” that features Lana Del Rey leaked online. However, the PMF charges that it was an incomplete song, and let his feelings be known online.
“THAT RIDIN SONG WITH ME N LANA IZ NOT OFFICAL, ITS NOT MY REAL LYRICS , THAT WAZ A REFERENCE , THE KICK DRUMS CAN SUCK MY D-CK!!!!,” tweeted the “Goldie” rapper earlier today. “MY BARZ ARE WACK AF ON THAT SONG BRUH, THAT WAZ A FREESTYLE REFERENCE AND THEY KNOW DAT, F-CK THE KICK DRUMS!!! I CARE ABOUT MY CRAFT TOO MUCH TO GIVE THE PPL GARBAGE LIKE THAT, SMH.”
As for the Kickdrums side of the story, they’re claiming ignorance. “We didn’t leak that “Ridin'” track. I was as surprised to see it on the web as everyone else,” they tweeted, also confirming that the song wasn’t finished. “Whole thing is weird to me. Song just pops up outta nowhere & theres an official lookin cover and Isht. call my manager like ‘what is this?’.”
A$AP recently told Vice’s Noisey that the song, which was originally to set appear on the Kickdrum’s Follow The Leader project, will be called “My B-tch” on his forthcoming Long.Live.A$AP debut. Until this drama is worked out–hopefully with a convo instead of 140 characters or less missives–that may be in jeopardy. Long.Live.ASAP is due in stores September 11th.
