It’s been nearly two years since Alicia Keys dropped a new album, and with all  that has changed in her life (like having a baby, and getting married) it only makes sense that she team with her love, Swizz Beatz for her latest single “New Day.” The track hit the ‘Net Friday (June 29) and showed that Keys is in a new head space.

When Hip-Hop Wired caught up with her better half, on the red carpet of the 2012 BET Awards, the producer detailed the motivation behind the collaboration. “She’s in a whole different creative space,  the chorus of ‘It’s a new day’ speaks of everything,” he says. “It’s a new day for music, it’s a new day for her… spiritually [and] mentally.”

Swizzy also revealed whether or not he and the wife will work together on other tracks for her new album.
