Attorney General Eric Holder is in the eye of a bipartisan firestorm that just got worse. Last month the House Oversight Committee voted to hold him in contempt, and now conservative bloggers are calling for him to be disbarred.

According to Mediate.com, two conservative bloggers filed formal complaints with the Bar Counsel in Washington D.C., last week. David Codrea, from the blog The War on Guns, and Mike Vanderboegh of Sipsey Street Irregulars, accuse the attorney general of violating rules of professional conduct, stemming from his refusal to turn over documents from the failed Operation Fast and Furious mission.

While some say that the complaint holds weight, others —like former member of the D.C. Bar Counsel, Michael Frisch—disagree. “Because this particular complaint is written as if the attorney general had already been convicted of a crime, I think it will likely be rejected on its face,” said Frisch.

Holder is expected to face a similar complaint, which will be filed in New York next week. Although Holder is licensed to practice law in the state, Frisch explained that there is no way to predict the outcome of the complaints. “One of the options that (the) bar counsel has is to defer its investigation pending the outcome of some parallel proceeding — whether it be a civil proceeding, a criminal proceeding or an internal investigation by some other agency.”

In response to the House vote, Holder told the Washington Post that he is being made an example of, because of Republican disdain towards President Obama.
