Meek Mill apologized to anyone who took issue with his “Amen” single, including the North Philly pastor who blasted the rapper’s music. The 25-year-old hit up BET’s 106 & Park Monday (July 16) and offered an apology alongside and explanation as to why he’s causing so much controversy. “People find all types of stuff offensive,” he said.  “I don’t think no preacher or no church approves of any type of rap music — because rap music, period, is a lot of bad stuff said. But at the end of the day, it’s real life.”

Unlike his heated exchange with Pastor Jomo K. Johnson last week, in which he repeatedly screamed “Where was you at?” when brought to task over giving back to his community, Meek was much calmer in speaking with hosts Rocsi Diaz, and Terrence J. “I wasn’t trying to disrespect no religion or anything like that. My whole family is Christian. I have a half Christian, half Muslim family, the situation, the song, that’s what energy it felt and if anybody feel disrespected, I ain’t do it in that way.”

Meek was inspired to make the track, found on his Dreamchasers 2 mixtape, because it gave him a “good feeling,” and not to be rebellious.  “I didn’t do it with bad intentions at the end of the day.”

Johnson released a statement announcing that he would lift the “Call-To-Action boycott” thanks to Meek’s apology, but has yet to disclose how many copies were sold of his ridiculous $2.99 e-book No Amen: Why Boycotting Meek Mill Will Help Save Hip Hop.
