will.i.am used the same sample (Iron Butterfly’s “In “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”) for the title track to Nas’ 2006 Hip-Hop Is Dead. Sorry, but that version was weak sauce compared to “Thief’s Theme,” from 2004’s Street’s Disciple. Nas takes you back to jux kids and the season of the vic over this brooding heat rock.
