August 5th marks what would have been the 48th birthday of the Beastie Boys’ Adam “MCA” Yauch. To honor that day, fans will be organizing a walking tour on August 4th, starting at 9am in New York City. Gothamist reports that the tour will hit all vital landmarks pertinent to the Beastie Boys and Yauch’s legacy. In addition, photographer Michelle Lawlor will be present to document the experience, as well as take flicks of fans who are a part of the tour. Drinks will follow at around 8pm that evening at the Overlook Bar on East 44th Street in Manhattan. Per Gothamist, fans can RSVP to the event through a Facebook page found here.

Adam Yauch passed away on May 4th of this year, ending his battle with cancer that originated in the parotid gland. The Beastie Boys were honored at the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame this year, just weeks before the multitalented artist’s death. The walking tour will occur exactly three months to the day of his death. Yauch first announced that he was diagnosed with cancer back in 2009, halting the release of the Beastie Boys’ eighth studio album Hot Sauce Committee Part One. The album finally dropped in 2011, re-titled as Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. Since MCA’s passing, fans have united across the country for celebratory tributes to his life and contributions to music.

No word yet if the remaining two members of the Beastie Boys will attend the walking tour or commencement celebration that will follow.
