Just when Florida was finally living down the embarrassment from that infamous “face eating” scandal, comes another unflattering report.  A Sarasota nurse is accused of stealing the credit cards of a patient who died at the hospital where she worked. She was arrested for the crime last week.

Margaret M. Nunn—who likely had bad credit, or was very pressed for cash—is alleged to have used three credit cards of a 63-year-old man who died in the emergency room at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital on June 10. Of course when you’re a heartless criminal, you can waste no time breaking the law, which is why Nunn immediately started using the cards, within hours of the patient’s demise.

Nunn jacked the plastic to pay phone bills, buy bridal shoes, airline tickets, and a bunch of other items. In total, the 53-year-old racked up $1,186.00 in charges.

Authorities were able to identify Nunn with help from the hospital’s Public Safety Office. She is said to have admitted to wrong doing once questioned while in jail. According to her statement, Nunn copied the patient’s driver license information and his credit card numbers before running off and spending his money.

It took more than a month, but as of July 25, Nunn was arrested on seven counts of credit card fraud, and ID theft.
