B.G. has opened up about the 14-year prison sentence that he was slapped with for federal weapons possession. The former Cash Money rap star called in to New Orleans radio station Q 93.3, and sounded very optimistic despite his  current situation. “I mean everything is everything,” he said. “I got 14 years, I gotta do 11. I been gone 15 months, so that put me at having like 10 [years] left.”

Further in the interview, he admitted to being wrong for having a gun, which became a federal offense because he was already a convicted felon. “At the end of the day I possessed the firearm and I was a convicted felon, and I shouldna had a firearm.  I can’t take that back. I took my licks, and I gotta do my bid. It is what it is. ”

“At the end of the day you gotta live with the decisions you make in life. I made my bed, I gotta lay in it.”

The 31-year-old found himself in trouble after being arrested back in 2009. He and two other men were all taken into custody for being in possession of three firearms, and were believed to be riding in a stolen rental car. B.G. pleaded guilty to two counts of felony weapons possession, plus a single count of  conspiracy to obstruct justice, and says that he was treated harshly because of his refusal to snitch. He also offered up some advice for others itching to go down the wrong path. “Stay in school, stay focused. Listen to your mama and your daddy. Don’t make the same mistakes that I did,” he said. “It’s a lot of things I wish I could take back and wish I could do different, but I ain’t able to do that. I put myself in this situation. There’s a lot of kids that look up to me and a lot of fans that I let down, but I ain’t perfect. I make mistakes and it ain’t worth it at the end of the day.”

Of the three men involved, B.G. got the second-longest sentence. His cohort, Jerod Fedsion, 28, received 20 years, while the second associate, Demounde Pollard, 17, was only given a 30-month sentence.
