Lil Wayne and Mountain Dew are expanding their reach after announcing earlier today (August 1st) that they have struck up a new partnership with STOKED, an action sports youth development agency based in New York and Los Angeles. Serving as the next phase for the New Orleans rap star’s “DEWeezy” campaign alongside the soft drink company, the partnership hopes to join fans of Wayne and skate culture, culminating in raising awareness of the union via a new website www.deweezy.com.

Fans can visit Weezy’s new site and are being invited to collaborate on a new Mountain Dew commercial featuring Lil Wayne. Also, the brand has announced that they will be cutting the ribbon in an opening ceremony on August 29th for the DEWeezy Skate Park in the rapper’s native city; more specifically it will be located in New Orleans’s 9th Ward Village – an area that was hit hard by the Hurricane Katrina disaster.

“We’ve been looking forward to announcing this phase of the DEWeezy project and getting our consumers involved,” says Brett O’Brien, VP of Marketing at Mountain Dew. “The campaign is about igniting creativity and celebrating people who follow their passion – like Lil Wayne has with skateboarding.”

Lil Wayne’s manager Cortez Bryant, co-CEO of the Blueprint Group added, “We are thrilled to move forward with the next phase of the DEWeezy campaign. Lil Wayne is passionate about skateboarding and the New Orleans community and this campaign fits those passions together seamlessly.”

Mountain Dew and STOKED want fans to visit the DEWeezy website and upload their suggestions for the commercial via videos, messages and photos following Wayne’s “DEW You” concept. Fans will then vote on the best suggestions before going to a final vote and even will get an opportunity to star in the spot.

Visit the DEWeezy website for more info.
