Like the good folks over at Grantland stated before their post, let’s be clear that Gabby Douglas is an American hero we are talking about here. She may have the grace of a butterfly placed on top of the finger of a ballerina riding a unicorn, but boy is this a poor excuse for a dougie.
Only the second African-American gymnast to medal in the history of the Olympics since Dominque Dawes, “The Flying Squirrel” as she’s become affectionately known by her teammates as the days have passed has become America’s new sweetheart. However when she hits her happy dance, the great Doug E. Fresh must have given the applause of a “bless her heart, she’s trying” kid.
But hey, she’s got a gold medal now so she can do whatever the hell she pleases.
