George Zimmerman has gotten his way on more than one occasion since shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, but it appears that his winning streak is over. The 28-year-old requested to have Judge Kenneth Lester taken off his forthcoming second-degree murder trial, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

Lester denied the motion Tuesday (July 31), citing that the request was “legally insufficient,” according to the Huffington Post.

Zimmerman’s has attempted to swap out judges on more than one occasion, but was successful only once. Circuit Judge Jessica Recksiedler was removed from the case back in April due to conflict of interest since her husband worked with an attorney who was hired by CNN to comment on the case.

Last month, Zimmerman’s lawyer, Mike O’Mara, filed a motion to have Lester removed on grounds of bias. O’Mara claims stemmed from the mild tongue-lashing Lester gave Zimmerman when it was revealed that he and his wife were deceitful, in regards to their bank account balance.

Even though he believes that the judge is working against him, Lester has actually been good to Zimmerman. He’s allowed him bond on two separate occasions, the most recent of which allowed for his release, for the second time in less than three months. He is currently hiding out in a safe house, and is not expected to go trial until the end of the year.
