First and foremost, happy born day to Gary “Genius/GZA” Grice, aka “Justice” for you god bodies, who is a wise 46 years-old today. This box set for the Wu-Tang Clan rapper’s classic sophomore album, Liquid Swords, dropped a month or so back, but all you mainstream leaning rap listeners may have missed it. Besides the album that features keys cuts like “Shadowboxin’,” “Cold World,” and “4th Chamber,” the 2-CD “Chess Box” (you can cop it here) comes with the LPs instrumentals (all RZA productions) and a miniature chess set. This makes complete and total sense since GZA is an avid player of the ancient game and the album’s artwork is inspired by a chess board.

Check out an “investigative report” of GZA’s single “Labels” from the aforementioned album over at Get On Down. GZA will be on  a national tour in September and October, performing Liquid Swords in its entirety.

Check out photos of the Liquid Swords “Chess Box” (the paper lining in the CD as if it was a mini-vinyl record is an insane detail) in the gallery.
