Jay Rock and the entire Top Dawg Entertainment group are having a pretty good summer. Powered by the anticipation behind crew member Kendrick Lamar’s good kid m.A.A.d city debut, Rock couldn’t be more proud of his friend. The two are set to embark on the BET Music Matters Tour next month, which will lead into Lamar’s album release.   “I don’t really know all the city’s yet but ya’ll be on the lookout, we’ll be in a city near you.” Rock tells Hip-Hop Wired.

With Lamar’s album becoming the talk of Hip-Hop, Rock wants to make sure that fan’s support the release.  “He been working real hard and the music is crazy right now,” he adds. “Just make sure when it drops, Oct. 2nd you get a copy, matter fact get two.”

For the follow-up project to his Follow Me Home release, the Southern California native will stick to a similar formula. “I’m in the process of working on it right now,” he says. “Basically, I  just been working with my same producers, in house. I been working with upcoming producers too, just trying to come up with a brand new sound.”

Even though his Black Hippy group member, Ab-Soul told us that a group album isn’t on the agenda, Rock had a different answer.  “You never know what might happen,” he explains. “Stuff just happens unexpected, you gotta’ keep your ears and eyes open.”

Looks like the world will just have to wait and see if the alleged project ever really drops.
