Bangladesh has no problem voicing his opinion, or exposing rapper’s for not paying their bills—even if it gets him into trouble. The lauded producer found himself in the spotlight for something other than his music when a comment made about Swizz Beatz not being “relevant,” turned heads.

Rather than claiming the “taken out context” defense, Bang admitted to his words but said that they were never supposed to be made public. “It wasn’t even meant to be an article so I never elaborated on what I said,” he tells Hip-Hop Wired. “It was just made bigger than what it was. We’re not enemies, we don’t talk at the same time so, it’s not that deep. People just be scared of opinions. This is music, [you’re] supposed to keep it 100 but nobody does.”

No matter his lackluster beef with Swizzy—who he reached out to via Twitter but got no response— count on Bang to continue to drop hits that are “foreign to the ear.” His music can be heard on 2 Chainz Based on a T.R.U. Story debut, Brandy’s “Put It Down,” featuring Chris Brown, and he’s working on music for Nicki Minaj; but the rest of the year will also be about preparing his rap debut by way of his own album, and introducing the world to his own artists.

Among the acts signed to Bangladesh Records is rapper Tiffany Fox, and despite not having a distribution deal behind the label, working with artists from the side of an executive is an important step in his career. “We can always shop for placements, but it’s better to be in ownership.”
