Jay Pharoah is a skilled impressionist…who doesn’t happen to look anything like the people he plays. Be that as it may, his latest position will be taking over the role of President Obama, on Saturday Night Live.

Fred Armisen (who actually looks a lot like our commander in chief), has played Obama since 2008, but executive producer Lorne Michaels wants to “shake it up” this season. “Jay has been doing Obama in his act this summer, and Jay is coming into his own,” Michaels said.

Aside from the casting swap, cast member Jason Sudeikis will stay on the show until the top of next year. It was previously believed that he was leaving SNL to continue his growing movie career. Sudeikis will also continue to play Mitt Romney on the show.

Pharoah joined SNL in 2010 following in the footsteps of other big name comedians like Tracy Morgan and Eddie Murphy. He’s made a name for himself by doing spot-on impressions of Jay-Z, Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington, Chris Rock, Will Smith, and more.

For its 38th season, SNL has commissioned Family Guy creator, and Ted star, Seth McFarlane to host, while Frank Ocean will be the musical guest.

SNL premieres Saturday, Sept. 15, at 11:30 p.m. EST.
