While in NYC for the “Iron Fists” Tour, RZA stopped by The Breakfast Club to discuss his upcoming film, The Man With The Iron Fists, and of course talk all things Wu-Tang Clan. Talking with Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy and Angela Yee, the Abbott likened the creation of films to the creation of music albums.

“To me music and film have the same wavelength,” explained RZA. “A lot of people may have not comprehended that but I’m one of the kids that did comprehend. It all activates in the same model. When i was making Wu-Tang albums, I was actually trying to make a movie. So when you listen to it, you was like Cuban Linx… it felt like you was getting a movie in your head. Now that I kind of rose above that I’m making physical movies with With Hip-Hip music [sounds] as a backdrop to it.”

RZA is especially proud of his new movie, which had him spending 150 days in China were the majority of the project was filmed.

“But now with The Man With The Iron Fists Yo, to me this feels as good as 36 Chambers,” revealed RZA. “I feel proud of what I put in there.”

Interestingly, RZA said that if he could do it again, he might not have kept the Wu-Tang Clan members on various record labels and instead kept them under one umbrella. But he did say it allowed him more flexibility that certain artists like 50 Cent might not have.

The Man With The Iron Fists, starring Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu, is our November 2nd. Watch the full interview below.
