The Salt Lake City Tribune, Utah’s biggest news paper in a heavily Mormon town, has endorsed President Obama in this year’s election, over their “adopted son” Mitt Romney.

In an article published Friday (Oct. 19), the Tribune attributes their endorsement of President Obama to Romney being  “the party’s shape-shifting nominee.”

The Tribune writes:  From his embrace of the party’s radical right wing, to subsequent portrayals of himself as a moderate champion of the middle class, Romney has raised the most frequently asked question of the campaign: “Who is this guy, really, and what in the world does he truly believe?

The article further explained that President Obama has earned his next term for being “a competent leader who, against tough odds, has guided the country through catastrophe and set a course that, while rocky, is pointing toward a brighter day.”

Romney’s time in Utah is championed by his turn around of the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games, which was rattled by scandal, and his days of undergrad at Brigham Young University.  With his work in Utah being a big part of his campaign, and Obama’s resurgence in last week’s debate,  the Tribune’s endorsement of the POTUS could be the spark Romney needs going into the final presidential debate.
