Police in Georgia are trying to piece together what drove Blaque’s Natina Reed to walk out into traffic Friday (Oct.  26). The 32-year-old was struck by a red Honda Accord and pronounced dead once transported to a local hospital, 29 minutes later.

While there were no witnesses to the accident, in an interview with MTV News  Gwinnett County police spokesperson Corporal Edwin Ritter, explained that authorities are still unsure why Reed was in harms way. “We’re just trying to figure out why [Natina] went out into traffic like she did,” Ritter said. “We don’t know why it happened, but we are looking into it now. If anyone can help us determine why she was there or explain why this happened, we’d like to speak to them.”

The driver who hit Reed called 911 after the incident, and Ritter further reiterated that criminal charges will not be filed. “It was an accident, that’s all it is. It was not a hit and run.”

Earlier in the week, Reed’s ex, Kurupt with whom she shared a son, released a statement on her death. “This is a tremendous loss to our family,” he said after thanking well-wishers for their support. “Natina was a great person and I wish everyone had the opportunity to meet her and know her as I did.”

According to her group members Blaque had plans on releasing a new album, and were working on a reality show.
