Fans of James “J Dilla” Yancey are no doubt familiar with the famed Detroit producer’s critically acclaimed instrumental album Donuts. Although it would be the last album Dilla would record before his untimely passing in February 2006, the record still maintains resonance in the Hip-Hop community. For the collectors, the Yancey Music Group is already prepping to unleash unreleased J Dilla material to go along with this summer’s Rebirth Of Detroit LP. Thanks to the innovative label Stones Throw, Donuts will be re-released as a box set of 45s and will include some surprises as well.

Wax addicts already know that vinyl is where Stones Throw shines and as usual, they’re spicing up the haul of the original Donuts album by adding “Signs,” a track from the formerly out-of-print “Fan Club 45” and “Sniper Elite” and “Murder Goons” featuring the metal faced villain DOOM and Wu-Tang Clan swordsman Ghostface Killa on the respective tracks. According to Stones Throw, these songs were recorded in 2005 prior to Donuts hitting the shelves.

If you want to cop this exclusive, eight-piece vinyl set, head over to Stones Throw right now to place your order. Check out photos of the sure to be collector’s item in the gallery.
