Black Man Dressed In KKK Outfit At City Council Meeting

Friday, July 17th, 2009

A man entered a City Council meeting dressed in a white robe and hood which resembled the suit of a Ku Klux Klan member on Wednesday. Upon request he refused to remove his attire before stepping up to speak.

The person behind the mask was African American male Michael Hunt and this would mark the second day that he arrived to the meeting in the apparel. Hunt had submitted a card in order to speak during the standard public comment period and was called to the podium by the presiding officer, Dennis Zine.

Zine asked Hunt to remove the hood before speaking and told him that he could not be heard by the council, but he refused and stated that his First Amendment rights allowed him to be dressed as he was.

Through disgust with the image in front of them, many council members chose to rise and left the meeting in protest. Those that left were Councilman Greig Smith and the chamber's three African American members: Bernard C. Parks, Jan Perry and Herb Wesson.

As a result of Hunt's refusal and the departure of council members, Council President Eric Garcetti stated that he would be allowed to keep the hood. Although he might not have agreed with Hunt's choice of presentation it was still his right to do so.

Two of the members whose departure pre-empted the adjournment of the meeting, Wesson and Smith, have stated that they plan on creating a policy that will place stricter guidelines as it pertains to the type of decorum allowed in the council chambers. They have even leaned towards using the policy used by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

There has been no motive discovered yet as to why Hunt has chosen to wear the outfit due to the council members leaving. Some have speculated that hunt wanted to see how far he could exercise his First Amendment rights and might have had the intentions of filing a lawsuit against the court if they chose to take actions against him.

Hunt had sued the city in April and was awarded $264,000 after challenging its vending ordinance. Since this incident, the city has filed for an appeal.

Atlanta Teacher Caught In Sexual Relations With Middle School Girl

Friday, July 17th, 2009

A teacher was placed under arrest for attempting to have sex with a female student in Clayton County, Georgia early Thursday. Charles Thomas McClendon, 29, was caught with a 15-year-old girl in the back seat of a Gold Ford F-150, according to Jonesboro police.

The Stone Mountain Middle School teacher is now being held in the Clayton County jail and being charged with child molestation and persuading a minor for indecent purposes. He will appear in court today for arraignment.

A Jonesboro police officer stated that while on patrol he spotted two people in a truck behind the El Tarasco restaurant at 2:30 a.m. As he approached the vehicle, he stated that McClendon threw a condom out and rushed to pull his pants back on. The girl in the vehicle was also seen trying to throw her clothes back on, according to Jonesboro Police Major Tim Jessup. He tried to pull off when he realized that the people approaching the truck were the police, but they soon stopped him before he could evacuate the scene in progress.

According to the arrest warrant that was filed in Clayton County Magistrate Court, McClendon was in the act of fondling the girl. It added that authorities were able to step into the scene as he was putting on the condom and had five more minutes passed, he would have been caught in the act.

While being questioned, McClendon initially told the authorities that he had just returned to town and was having sex with his girlfriend. As he continued to be questioned, however, he clarified his relationship with the girl and stated that he knew the girl from where he teaches. As the female was questioned, she at first presented officers with a fake name and age, but they were later able to discover that the girl was only 15.

McClendon knew the young woman through tutoring her in math the previous year which was confirmed by the girl, according to Jessup.

A spokesman for DeKalb County Schools, Dale Davis, stated that McClendon is a first-year teacher in that school system and could not provide further commentary on the subject at hand.

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

In a surprising yet interesting turn of events, recent actions by a trifling, mystery person revealed a bombshell. The "Mouth of the South," Christopher "Ludacris” Bridges, was outted as one of Dr. Dre's main contributors for his long awaited album, Detox. “O.G.'s Theme,” a demo version of a track that is scheduled to appear on the album, was performed by the legendary Atlanta rapper with him trading in his patented southern baritone stylings for a more relaxed and casual flow; an obvious attempt at mimicking the good Dr.

Luda vented some of his frustrations through his (more...)

Former NBA Star Antoine Walker In Deep Debt

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

The economy has been tough on everyone, even NBA players. Former Atlanta Hawk, Antoine Walker, is in deep trouble. Coveted and reviled around the league for his clutch three-point jump shots, the twelve year veteran forward was released from the Memphis Grizzlies in December of 2008. Having been in the starting lineup for six NBA franchises, netting well over $100 million, he could have comfortably retired to a nice, quiet life. Alas, that life was not to be, and the big man wasted little time before he ransacked his vaults and perused several casinos, an act that would result in the incurrence of thousands of dollars and force the once wealthy man into financial submission.

Now facing criminal charges for writing ten bad checks, totaling $1 million dollars as well as owing another $82,000 in legal fees due to the numerous criminal charges, the athlete seemingly has nowhere else to go but up.

The former baller paid $178,000 total, representing joint debt that he accrued while gambling at Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood and the Red Rock Resort.

$822,500 is still owed to the casinos and a warrant was issued for his arrest, presumably for the laid off star to make better amends with his debtors.
