Philly Cops Walk After Unjust Beatdown

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

Nearly a month after the acquittal of three young men beaten by Philadelphia police, their aggressors meet the same fate. Eight disgraced members of Philadelphia's finest were found not guilty, via the opinion of a grand jury, in a racially charged trial that questioned whether the men used excessive force to subdue three young men wrongfully accused of murdering a police officer in May of 2008.

Following a 14-month investigation, the grand jury concluded that the officers, all white, used proper judgment and followed all rules and protocols in apprehending the men. Law enforcement considered the men armed and dangerous, making sure to apply the force they deemed necessary to secure their arrest. Department policy forbids officers from beating or kicking perpetrators once handcuffed, and in sticking with that code, the eight officers in question did not.

"We found that the design of the force applied by the police was helpful rather than hurtful; the kicks and blows, in other words, were aimed not to inflict injury but to facilitate quick and safe arrests," said the grand jury in their written statement to the court.

In spite of the court's decision and fierce opposition from the police union, Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey has remained steadfast in the choices he made in response to the melee. Citing that the incident gave the department a "black eye," Commissioner Ramsey fired four of the officers involved in the fray, choosing to "discipline" the others.

Speaking at a news conference, Commissioner Ramsey even went as far as calling some of the actions used by the officers while attempting to make the arrest "indiscriminate" and "excessive." "In my opinion, all the actions were not justified," he said.

Aerial footage of the incident shows a throng of police officers descend upon a vehicle after a 2 1/2 mile chase, breaking the windows, and forcefully removing three Black men from within. The officers kicked and beat them for several minutes, with one drawing his nightstick to inflict even greater damage.

The majority of the people on sitting on the grand jury were Black.

Obama Death Threats Upsurge 400 Percent

Friday, August 7th, 2009

It is no secret that President Barack Obama has been the target of several wannabe assassins since the beginning of his campaign. With time, one would think people would be settled with idea that the nation's president is a black man, sadly, that's not the case.

In the new book,"In the President's Secret Service," it reveals President Obama's life is threatened over 30 times a day and with increased threats come increased Secret Service security, which is now under-resourced and overstretched.

Since Obama was elected, death threats against him have increased 400 percent from approximately 3,000 per year under President George W. Bush, according to Ronald Kessler the author of the book.

"Renegade", Obama's code name within the Secret Service has been threatened to the nines, some of which have been publicized. In Tennessee late last year, a group of white supremacists planned to rob a gun shop, shoot 88 black people, behead 14 additional blacks and finally assassinate the first black president of the U.S.

Although some have been disclosed, the Secret Service tries its best not to divulge threat details in fear of copycat attempts. While most threats are not credible, each one has to be thoroughly investigated.

After Obama was elected president, his two children Malia, 11, codenamed Radiance, and Sasha, eight, codenamed Rosebud, began receiving Secret Service protection. Obama's wife Michelle is codenamed Renaissance. The Secret Service has also assigned agents to Vice-President Joe Biden's children, grandchildren, and mother.

What's the cure? Hire more agents, right? Instead of calling on the aid of other agents, they've committed to working longer hours to cover extra persons in need of round-the-clock security.

"We have half the number of agents we need, but requests for more agents have fallen on deaf ears at headquarters," a Secret Service agent told Kessler. "Headquarters' mentality has always been, 'You can complete the mission with what you have. You're a U.S.S.S. agent'."

Fat Joe called into New York's Hot 97 yesterday and spoke with DJ Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg in attempt to set the record straight and clear his name.

Joe stated:

“Big Pun made millions and millions of dollars while he was alive. He spent a lot of money… 10 Benzes, 10 motorcycles, whatever the case may be. I had no clue that he was broke. She steps to me saying Joe we broke, we have no money. I say people not gonna feel sorry for you because you're Big Pun's wife forever. I'm gonna get you some (more...)

13-Year Old Girl Kept In Jail for Two Weeks

Friday, August 7th, 2009

A 13-year old girl was held in a Dallas county jail for nearly two weeks before police realized she was underage. The girl ran away from home and was arrested July 10 at a Target store for shoplifting.

According to the Associated Press, she did not have any identification and gave officers a false name and age telling them she was 14. Police Sergeant Warren Mitchell told the AP that the officer that arrested the girl attempted to look up her record but found no information on her. The officer therefore assumed the girl was 17-years old and took her to jail. She was released from custody July 23 and is currently still listed as a runaway. A fellow inmate and coincidentally an acquaintance of the girl recognized her and told the girl's father. Her father provided police with her birth certificate and records verifying her age and identity.

An Internal Affairs investigation is currently underway.
