Drake Opens Up on Debut Album

NEWS

With the debut release of Kid Cudi this week, yet another member of the Freshman Class of 2009 has left their mark for music.  Starting with Asher Roth releasing Asleep In the Bread Aisle, fans are anticipating a project from the Young Money soldier, Drake.

Last week, the rapper had to undergo surgery for his knee after re-injuring his ACL this summer.  In regards to the outcome, Drake stated that it was successful, but for now he can only just lay in the bed all day.  Confined to a bed, the up-and-comer has found a new means to make sure that he can still record.

Speaking with Big Tigger on WPGC 95.5, Drizzy gave more details as it related to his upcoming debut album, Thank Me Later.

“We just built the dummy studio in the back room...The storm is brewing. [laughs] The ominous clouds are starting to form. It's about to be a problem. I don't know [an exact release date], I'm hoping February. That'll be a nice release date, release month. It's gonna follow the same formula as the mixtape. It's gonna be a step up. That's my goal. It's gonna be very dark and sexy and all the things I like to embody in my music. You're gonna hear me rapping about my life."

An EP for So Far Gone hit shelves Tuesday which featured 7 tracks, with 5 from the mixtape.  One new track titled “Fear” was exclusively on the project where he stated that the last bar on the song will be the first bar for the real album.

Rumors have recently surfaced that rapper Kia Shine might be a co-writer for Drake.  At the BMI Awards last week, he received an award for “Best I Ever Had”.  More words have begun to surface stating that he received 25% of the profits for the smash single.
