Eve Says Ruff Ryder Reunion ‘Could' Happen

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

“Those are my dogs and will forever be my dogs.”

Before the Roc had everybody throwing their diamonds in the air and before the Diplomats were holding down the New York scene, the Ruff Ryders were it. A strong army built with DMX, Swizz Beatz, L.O.X., Eve and others, this was a team that dominated in all aspects during the late 90s.

Unexpectedly, the group disbanded as everyone went out to do their own thing and DMX found himself (more...)

Common Says the Era of ‘Bling Bling' is Over

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

When the president was simply known as Senator Barack Obama running for office, all hands were on deck as it pertained to the overall support that he was receiving.  It fully showed in the landslide results of the election against McCain as most in the Black community raised their arms to say “My President is Black.”

Since then, there have been mixed reviews in relation to actions that have been made by the president since entering the White House.  Whatever the case may be, he has left lasting impressions on certain people in the urban community as they have all strived to become more than they once were now that they are aware of the fact that a Black man has the ability (more...)

Nappy Roots Want to Restore Hip-Hop in Public Schools

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

For those that embrace music instead of condemning it, you will be aware of magnitude of its impact. Outside of having something to tap your foot to, music has been able to bridge the gaps between generations and has dissolved certain cultural differences that have forever kept the world divided.

Now, in all honesty, music can't end famine, poverty or create world peace, but if it has the ability (more...)

Keith Murray and Canibus Reveal Undergods

“Supreme, lyrical beings.”-Keith Murray

Sometimes in life, greatness is acknowledged, but is never truly recognized and respected.  In the game of Hip-Hop there have been many formidable rappers that have never been able to fully shine the way they were supposed due to the overall politics and BS that surround the music.

They saying of united we stand, divided we fall comes to mind in instances such as this where artists cannot build themselves individually, but can shake the foundation with someone by their side.  Slaughterhouse (more...)

Memphis Bleek Speaks on the Troubles At Def Jam

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Joe Budden once said in a rap that Def Jam wasn't worried about artists unless they were Jay, Kanye or Jeezy and it seems that a lot of validity has been held to that statement. Once known as the premiere label for rap artists, it has now seen more rappers leaving then coming as of late.

For those that continue to fight the good fight and stick it out, a lack of backing is apparent when their project comes out and it doesn't seem to have been fully marketed. Look no further than examples such as Ghostface Killah, Method Man or Redman. The label has changed its overall focus and it seems to be more concerned with (more...)

Cracker Barrel Beater Faces Felony Charges

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

The white man who beat a black woman outside a Georgia Cracker Barrel restaurant is being charged with a felony. Troy Dale West Jr. was indicted today on felony charges.

The Associated Press reports that West faces one count each of aggravated assault, false imprisonment and first-degree cruelty to children under the indictment filed in Clayton County Superior Court. He also faces two counts of battery and disorderly conduct which are misdemeanors.

Police and patrons at Cracker Barrel claim that West brutally beat 35-year-old Army Reservist, Tashawnea Hill, in front of her 7-year old daughter. West beat her with a closed fist and kicked her repeatedly while yelling racial slurs. The beating was so violent that she was left  temporarily unconscious and had to recieve medical treatment.

Police say the man became enraged after Hill told him to be careful after opening the door and nearly hitting her daughter. The blatantly racist bigot claims that Hill spit him on but patrons who watched idly by refute that statement.

Cracker Barrel issued a statement last Wednesday condemning the incident and banning West from visiting their restaurants for life.
