Congressional Black Caucus To Honor Tyler Perry and Sam Gilliam

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and the Congressional Black Caucus Spouses are honoring two men for their achievements in the African American community, Sam Gilliam and Tyler Perry.

Both renaissance men will be recognized during the 13th annual ‘Celebration of Leadership in the Fine Arts' on September 23 at the National Museum of Women in Arts in Washington D.C. Gilliam and Perry will be recognized during the celebration from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. along with students pursuing careers in their respective fields. 20 students will be awarded scholarships at the program. The program will kick off the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's annual legislative conference.

Gilliam has paintings featured in some of the nation's most prestigous musuems including the Art Institute of Chicago, Corcoran Gallery of Art, and the Metropolitan Museum. He is noted for being one of the world's top color field painters.
When Tyler Perry's not busy racking up honors and awards he's preparing to turn the hit stage play, "For Colored Girls Who Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf" into a movie. He will write, direct and produce the film and plans to release it in 2010. Filming begins in November in Atlanta.

Conservative Rap Leans Farther to the “Right” At Birther-Tea Bagger March on Washington

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Hip-Hop has always been an art from used to convey the plight of the downtrodden, but in this new century of political uncertainty accentuated by spurts of debauchery, it has taken a new life that loosely resembles its humble beginnings.

The Young Cons, a duo of Dartmouth graduates that decided to wield the mic in an attempt to further the right-wing agenda, are a perfect example of this new Hip-Hop “sub-genre.”

“Serious C” and “Stiltz” reside within the upper echelon of conservative rappers with no competition in sight. But adding credence to the old adage, “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,” the horrendous rapping tandem will not be alone for long.

Displaying the “skills” that will never pay the any form of bills is an anonymous rhyme-sayer whom has yet to be named.

Weilding lyrics such as “USA not USSR, we need more Anne Coulter and less Bill Maher” and “forget global warming, just look at the weather,” one could easily see how this nameless rapper whipped a fringe audience determined to spread nothing less than utter lunacy into an excitement-laden stupor.

It's not enough to ask these misguided citizens to take a long walk off of a short peer, so I will just post the video of their dreadful performance. By the way, look closely at the screen inside the video as this "brother" shows where his colors truly lie.

Fabolous Talks Decrease in Violent Lyrics

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Hip-Hop, way back when, was the poster child and would have the finger of blame pointed at it to give reasoning for the incline of violence within America and especially the urban community. Okay, let's be frank, Hip-Hop music STILL has a bull's eye painted on its back and is still the scapegoat for almost everything, probably even the recession.

Emerging in the rap circuit during that era as a New York MC, rapper Fabolous (more...)

One Young Man Cleared In Tragic Harvard Murder Case

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Jason Aquino has been cleared of the murder charge that loomed before him. Instead the 23-year-old will be charged with being an accessory to armed robbery and carrying a firearm without a license.

Good news in an otherwise negativity laced event, Aquino was originally charged in the murder of Justin Cosby, a 21-year-old Cambridge resident described as having a kind demeanor and promising future.

Purportedly a robbery gone bad, the event has shaken Harvard to its core, igniting racial tensions while uncovering a notorious drug trade previously unknown to non-residents.

Jabrai Jordan Copney and Blayn Jiggets have both been formally charged in the attempted robbery and subsequent murder of Cosby with both receiving murder charges in the first degree for the May shooting.

Copney, a quasi-famous songwriter who has written for several major R&B acts including legendary group New Edition, has plead not guilty. Jiggets is still awaiting extradition from New York. Aquino was originally facing these charges as well.

Chenequa Campbell and Brittany Smith, both associates of the killers and victim, were not allowed to graduate from the Ivy League institution due to suspicions of involvement on their respective parts in the crime.

Campbell has been deemed by those close to the incident as the semi-mastermind behind the misdeed, with numerous sources claiming that she had Cosby “set up,” informing Copney that he would be a prime robbery target due to his heavy involvement in the marijuana trade around Cambridge.
