696 Form Targets Hip-Hop In Britain Nightclubs

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Avid listeners of Hip-Hop across the pond are outraged by a form that targets the community's night club promoters and artists. The BBC reports that Form 696 is the latest anti-Hip Hop ploy by a governing body. The “risk assessment form” in its initial form walked the fine line of being overly intrusive and overtly racist, asking details on “specific ethnic groups” attending the events. Now with a few revisions, the controversial form is still being seen as an (more...)

4th Grader Asks Obama: "Why Do People Hate You?"

Friday, October 16th, 2009

President Obama made his first Presidential visit to New Orleans this week and while there he attended a town hall meeting. During Thursday's meeting, the 44th President answered some tough questions but the toughest question of all came from a 9-year-old named Tyren Scott.

The fourth grader asked him a simple question.

“Why do people hate you?”

The confused young man even added,

“They supposed to love you.”

Obama gave little Tyren a hug before saying,

“First of all I did get elected President, not everyone hates me. I got a whole lotta folks. You know what is true is true, it's like everybody's getting mad all the time. I think that you've gotta take it with a grain of salt. Some of it is just what's called politics, where when one party wins the other party feels like it has to poke you a little bit to keep you on your toes. So you shouldn't take it too seriously.”

Obama broke it down further for little Tyren by adding,

“Sometimes I think people are worried about their own lives. A lot of people are losing their jobs right now. A lot of people are losing their health care, and a lot of people are losing their homes to foreclosure, and they're feeling frustrated, and when you're President of the United States, you gotta deal with all of that."

He then reassured the young boy saying,

“I'm a pretty tough guy…you've just gotta keep on going when folks are criticizing you.”

Leave it to children to state the obvious. It's a shame to see how many people have turned their backs on this man since he was elected into office. No worries though, he's exactly right. Obama's got a “whole lotta folks” that support him as our President and aren't jumping on the bandwagon to tear him down. After all isn't that the patriotic thing to do? But I digress…
