Obama Billboard Sparks National Outrage

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

The proprietor of a Colorado car dealership has found himself in the midst of an unwelcomed, social firestorm after he ordered a controversial billboard to be placed above his lot.

The sign features a cartoonized image of President Obama in a turban, while questioning his legitimacy as a citizen of the United States, capitalizing on the outlandish suspicions of the Birther Nation and Tea Baggers.

“I can't say that I expected everything that's been going on with the response we got,” said Phil Wolf, owner of Wolf Interstate Leasing and Sales.

Even though erected under the sentiment of patriotism, the billboard has received plenty of negative attention, with the latest barrage stemming from the Anti-Defamation League, who claim that the image of President Obama in a turban and robe while drawing mention to the tragedy that occurred at Fort Hood suggests that Muslims were responsible for the atrocity, as opposed to the lone actions of an individual.

Still, in the midst of all the hoopla, Wolf refuses to let up.

“I believe in it enough. I believe in America enough that I think it's worth the risk.”

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Zoo Life/G-Unit Rapper 40 Glocc is real political these days (“'Cause I care, he says). Not only is he gearing up for the release of his street album Concrete Jungle with the lead single, “Grindin'” being a reflection of how music is a refuge from the New World Order, he's also unabashedly speaking up about his trial this coming January for allegedly promoting gang culture in his music and videos.

Last year, he and fellow alleged Colon City Crips (a faction of the Crips gang operating out of San Bernardino County, California (Inland Empire)) members were served with an injunction that specifically details him – birth name, Lawrence White – as “particularly notorious... a senior member of the gang who has become a rap star.”

The injunction further claims that he uses his resources (network and net worth) to “perpetuate and foster” the image of the gang's dominance of the (more...)

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

The Federal Bureau of Investigations is currently at a dead end in at least 33 civil rights cases. The cases range from police brutality to killings that occurred decades ago, many of them involving white police officers who shot black men or teenagers.

The FBI is asking for help from relatives of victims to help right the wrongs of the past. They are currently looking for family members to provide evidence or details on crimes, and in some cases, simply  give status updates or tell them that their investigation has ended.

According to The Associated Press, among the cases is Johnny Robinson, a black teen shot by police in 1963 in the aftermath of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama. Another case is the killing of John Earl Reese, a 16-year-old who died in 1955 when two men fired shots on a black cafe in Gregg County, Texas.
