Whites Only Basketball League Plans To Hit Georgia

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

We knew the NBA was out of control with Gilbert Arenas toting weapons to work as if his job was in some dangerous crime ridden environment but apparently one man has had enough of the foolishness as well.

Don "Moose" Lewis, commissioner of The All-American Basketball Alliance, wants to set up a “whites only” basketball league which will launch in 12 cities this summer and also bans players born outside of the U.S.

The league released a statement that read:

"It has come to the attention of the principals of the (All-American Basketball Alliance) that white basketball players are essentially 'shut out' of conventional professional basketball due to the proliferation of non-organized play on the court.  With players on other professional teams carrying guns, attacking fans in the stands, and going through the motions of playing the game, fundamentally sound white players are a vanishing species.

Fans have spoken to the (more...)

Ghostface Killah, Jay Electronica and Others Honor 'Phife Dawg'

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Hoping to push forward the idea of promoting health and fitness, New York artists and activists have linked together to launch a concert series in support of raising awareness on diabetes.

Presented by The Heavy Sound, the event, “Mind Body Soul: A Benefit Concert to Raise Awareness of Diabetes”, will take place later tonight at 8 p.m. at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn's Williamsburg District at 361 Metropolitan Avenue.

Acting as hosts for the special occasion will be rapper Michael Rapaport along with Mr. Malik Isaac Taylor, who is known best from A Tribe Called Quest as ‘Phife Dawg.  Taylor will also be the Guest of Honor.

As the Guest of Honor, Taylor had to deal with his own battles against diabetes after being first diagnosed with it back in May 1990.

In 1999, a bump on the back of his neck, after testing results, opened Phife's eyes to the fact that his kidneys may have died and there was a possibility that he would have to (more...)

50 Cent Back In the Lab for New “Mainstream” Album

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

The fans wanted him to return to his gritty sound that created his image in 2003's Get Rich Or Die Tryin and when he made the attempt, the lackluster sales of Before I Self Destruct solidified the fact that catering to the fans might not always be the best way to fatten one's own pocket.

He has stated, however, that the response overlooks the actual sales, but that's sort of like someone talking trash before playing a game, then losing, then saying ‘Hey, it was a good game'.

Whatever the case may be, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has reportedly been in the works to create yet another album, but this time it will reach out for the mainstream appeal.

So, is this like the "Gangsta's Delight" version of The Blueprint III?

Making a major transition from his usual blueprint, there have been rumors that Jackson (more...)

43-Year-Old Charged In California Gang Rape

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

A 43-year-old man is being charged in the disturbing gang rape of a California girl by ten men while an estimated 20 people stood idly by and watched.

43-year-old John Crane Jr. turned himself in to police Tuesday after being identified last week as a suspect in the crime of the Richmond high school student.

Police describe him as an “ex-con with a violent history.”

The update on this teen's tragedy comes just a week after another California girl recanted her story of a gang rape saying that she needed an excuse to be out late.

The young girl told police that she was forced into a car at gun point by four men before being raped by two of them.

She then called the next day and confessed the lie.

According to police however, the rape of this Richmond high school student is no joke and they have been actively trying to find the suspects involved since October.

As previously reported, the 15-year-old girl was violently beaten and raped outside of a Richmond, California high school leaving a school dance.

Police estimate as many as ten men raped the girl during the 2 ½ hour incident while 20 people stood by laughing and taking pictures.

So far police have arrested six men between the ages of 16 and 21 in connection with the crime.

They have all entered not guilty pleas.

Such a sad story...smh.

QD3 Endorses “Scratch The Ultimate DJ”

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

QDQ3 the son of Quincy Jones and the man behind “The Carter” Lil Wayne documentary is stepping into the video game realm with his endorsement of the “Scratch: The Ultimate DJ” gaming system.

The video game is set to be released in May of 2010 andQD3 recently spoke with HipHopWired about what makes this game different from its previously released competition.

“The difference between this game and a lot of other games is our controller. It's the only game that I'm aware of that actually has two brand names involved.

We have Akai who makes the MPC sampling drum machine and they made the drum pads on the controllers. The turntables and the fader are made by Numark so those are the number one companies in each of those categories for drum machine and DJ equipment.   When you play this, it's the closest thing you can get to actually using the real equipment."

In anticipation of the game, Numark is releasing a “Spin Doctors” viral video series profiling DJs from across the country.

Watch DJ Numark in the first installment as he speaks on how he took his name from the popular Numark brand,  his tenure in DJing and thoughts on the game below.
