President Barack Obama sent out his very first post on Twitter Monday while visiting the American Red Cross headquarters in D.C.
The President was there with First Lady Michelle Obama to visit the organizers of a major relief effort in Haiti when he tweeted from the Red Cross's Twitter account saying,
“President Obama and the First Lady are here visiting our disaster operation center right now.”
The Red Cross confirmed that the commander in chief personally posted the tweet saying that “he pushed the button himself.”
He does not personally update his @BarackObama Twitter account.
The President and the First Lady were there to offer their support for the disaster operation center. The President encouraged the Red Cross staff saying,
“We're just here to say 'thank you' for the great work you're doing.”
No word on when he'll visit Haiti to see the damage firsthand.
As the damages continue to ravage Haiti, the aftershocks of an earthquake seem to be minor in comparison to the after effects of the ongoing tragedy and how some are reacting to it.
When male looters started selling their newfound merchandise to people on the streets, primal instincts must have kicked in as it turned into a bad situation.
Standing atop a store looking down on those below them fighting over the product, other boys climbed atop the building and began pelting the crowd with rocks and concrete blocks with one child being struck in the head and being dragged away by CNN's own Anderson Cooper.
To say that the country is in a state of emergency is an understatement. Haiti is in dire need of assistance and going over there to just report the problem is clearly not enough.
A 5.2 earthquake shook the Cayman Islands this morning 600 miles from the devastation in Haiti.
The Associated Press reports that a 6.2-mile deep quake hit at 9:23 a.m., 40 miles from George Town, Cayman Islands.
While there are no reports of injuries so far the quake is believed to have toppled power lines and caused damage.
Just yesterday a 6.0 earthquake rocked the Pacific coast of Guatemala near the border with El Salvador.
The quake which was centered about 60 miles southeast of Guatemala city, was felt in El Salvador but only caused minor shaking in windows and buildings.
There are no reports of any injuries so far.
Now why exactly artists aren't smartening up as it pertains to doing business with Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Diddy, whatever he is called now, is baffling.
Look at how many times the man has had the change his name as if he escaped prison and had to create a new identity.
With the L.O.X. getting closer to actually signing the dotted line with Diddy to do a one album deal, some come to think to themselves, what's going on with Red Café?
That's right folks, Red Café, the guy that was supposed to be the new face of Bad Boy and was going to bring the label back to dominate like it once did. After dropping “Hottest In The Hood”, which has (more...)
Hip-Hop is continuing to support Haiti in its relief efforts and the latest addition to the cause comes from the Black grassroots organization The Hip-Hop Caucus and rapper / activist David Banner.

He tells HHW that while some people would use others “misery and pain” to their advantage, (more...)
Now many have come to look at such scenarios and push them to the side as if it never happened, but instances such as this are uncalled for and give insight to something in between the lines.
As Monday was a day to remember and look back at the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and what he strived for in regards to the future of Black America, but more so the humanity in America, certain slip ups were made by ESPN radio host Mike Greenberg of Mike and Mike In the Morning.
Since then he has come to apologize for his words and stated the fault was (more...)
