Speaking exclusively with Hip-Hop Wired about their hiatus as a group, Goodie M.O.b's Bigg Gipp said,
“What a lot of people don't know is that we were talking the entire time (through their inner turmoil). Whatever people were saying in the press or on the radio, we still were talking. I think we just all wanted to go out and spread our wings in the world. Cee had the opportunity to work with Gnarls Barkley, I had the opportunity to work with Nelly. Khujo was putting out (more...)
Memphis' lyrical cocaine rap champ Yo Gotti is preparing to make 2010 his year. Finally free from his previous label TVT, The Pyrex King spoke with Hip-Hop Wired exclusively about his upcoming projects.
"I just dropped “Cocaine Muzik 4.” DJ Drama put it together so it's a Gangsta Grillz. Me and my artist named Zedzilla. I'm from North Memphis, he's from South Memphis. It's called “Both Sides, Both Stories.” Then I got “Cocaine Muzik 4 In A Half” coming right on the heels of that so the Pyrek King is working."
Yo gotti will also be dropping his Polo Grounds Music/ J Records debut in March. He added,
“The name of the album is “Live From The Kitchen.” Basically I'm just trying to make sure the sh*t be a (more...)
After a hiatus in music, Eve, the Ruff Ryder's pit bull in a skirt, is announcing her decision to leave Interscope Records and promising to release new music.
Her last album headlined by her single “Tambourine" was due out in 2007 but was canned leaving Evie-Eve to fade into the background of female MCs.
This year however Eve promises to turn that around with new material now that she's been freed from her contract at Jimmy Iovine's label.
She announced the news via her @TheRealEve Twitter page telling her followers that she was a free agent and was back in the studio.
“Trust me ya'll I got ya'll on MUSIC!!! … Let me tell u what happened with music so ya'll don't think I quit. Left Interscope, free agent now. Went back in re-doing music. Trust me….”
Solidifying her statement, Eve had this to say about the state of (more...)
Paul Schlesselman, 19, of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas, plead guilty on Thursday to charges he plotted to kill then-Sen. Barack Obama and dozens of other black people in 2008.
Schlesselman pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to one count of conspiracy, one count of threatening to kill and harm a presidential candidate and one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.
He faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced in April.
A co-defendant, Daniel Cowart, 21, of Bells, Tenn., remains in custody.
According to The Associated Press, authorities have described the two as white supremacist skinheads who hatched a plot for a cross-country robbery and killing spree that was to culminate with an attack on Obama, who was then a candidate for president.
They were arrested in October 2008 and have been held without bond since.
Authorities have said that although the two had enough guns to create carnage, they never got close to carrying out their plans.
As the most prominent member of the Wu Tang Clan, Method Man was the first out of the pack to take the solo route and serve as the guinea pig for the future of the rappers from Staten Island.
His willingness to take a risk has been able to branch and develop even further outside of the music world as the rapper has also been able to establish himself as an actor and even landed himself a role in a comic book for a self-titled graphic novel that he created.

The Smoking Gun reports that $1 out of every $5 donated to Wyclef's Yele Charity actually goes to the impoverished country. If that's indeed true, it's sad because the organization has already raised over a million dollars for the earthquake victims.
The Smoking Gun reports:
“Internal Revenue Service records show the group has a lackluster history of accounting for its finances, and that the organization has paid the performer and his business partner at least $410,000 for rent, production services, and Jean's appearance at a benefit concert. Though the Wyclef Jean Foundation, which does business as Yele Haiti Foundation, was incorporated 12 years ago--and has been active since that time--the group only first filed tax returns in August 2009.
That month, the foundation provided the IRS with returns covering (more...)
Overall, the problem with creating a sequel is trying to make sure that it can match or surpass its predecessor.
With Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, trying to outdo the classic debut in 1995 made fans hesitant and skeptical of Raekwon, but he was able to pull it off.
Back together, Capone N Noreaga are taking it back to the beginnings and are trying to create their own sequel to their debut album The War Report.
Clearly such a task would have any artist going back to the drawing board to ensure that all faults are corrected and CNN is no different as they actually had to scrap their original (more...)
“I put my trust in the wrong people. That's my mistake for putting my trust in the wrong people.”
Back in 2008, Donald B. Jenkins, known by his rap alias Baby D, was arrested for allegedly trafficking cocaine after being set up by a “friend”.
With two underground albums already under his belt, he released his first mainstream album, A-Town Secret Weapon, which was fueled by the hit single “I'm Bout Money.” Getting heavy rotation from the radio and BET, the Georgia rapper was unable to capitalize on his growing popularity as he was forced behind bars.
Now out of prison and on house arrest, Baby D looks to build his momentum from where it started with the upcoming project Fresh Out which is slated for a release in 2010.
The rapper also reflects on his time served and came to the realization that he made his own mistakes, but the major fault came from (more...)
As the death tolls in Haiti continue to rise, Wyclef Jean is calling for a state of emergency and says that the death count is far higher than what is being reported. Clef spoke with FOX News stating,
"This is apocalypse. The reality here at the airport has nothing to do with what's going on on the ground right now. There's people that are still under the rubble. The count is not 100-thousand. There's at least 400-500 thousand at least of people who are about to die. The numbers are high. We need a state of emergency [to be called].
We spent the day picking up dead bodies all day. That's what we did. There's so much bodies in the streets that the morgues are filled up, the cemeteries are filled up. So we participated in picking up the bodies and finding a place that we could put the bodies."
To help support the relief effort for Haiti, relief funds can be donated to the Yele Haiti non-profit organization by texting “Yele” to 501501. For more information, log on to www.yele.org.
Southern Indiana University basketball player Jeron Lewis was pronounced dead Thursday after falling on court during a basketball game.
The 6-foot-8 260-pound player fell under the basket with four minutes left in the team's game against Kentucky Wesleyan.
Witnesses report seeing Lewis fall to the ground before twitching and lying motionless.
The Athletic Department spokesman for the school tells the Associated Press that everything seemed to be going as planned until the 21-year-old fell suddenly.
"The play was under the basket. The ball was rebounded, we were on defense, and the next thing I knew – most everyone knew – all of a sudden the officials start blowing whistles, and Jeron was motionless with the trainer from Kentucky Wesleyan. They started giving him treatment, took him to the medical center. That is where he passed away.”
A preliminary autopsy today revealed that the young man died of natural causes with the coroner reporting that he had heart problems and no signs of head trauma.
