Friday, January 15th, 2010

Denver Public Schools experienced widespread backlash after announcing that it would serve fried chicken and collard greens in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The school system claims that they wanted to serve the “southern style” meal to students to pay homage to the civil rights leader's southern roots but quickly pulled the menu after receiving cries of stereotyping from parents.

Denver Public Schools issued an apology Tuesday for their poor judgment saying that it was,

“highly insensitive in light of certain hurtful cultural stereotypes still harbored in parts of our society."

So the best way they could think to honor Martin Luther King was through fried chicken???

Great. I wonder if they decided to serve red kool-aid too….smh.

First Legal Male Prostitute Compares Himself To Rosa Parks

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

The first legal male prostitute in the country is comparing himself to Rosa Parks saying that he's “standing up” for his rights much like the civil rights leader did years ago.

Markus is the first man to be hired at Nevada's first male brothel the “Shady Lady Ranch” and according to him his struggle is no different than Rosa's.

He tells Details magazine,

“It's just the same as when Rosa Parks decided to sit at the front instead of the back. She was proclaiming her rights as a disadvantaged, African-American older woman. And I'm doing the same. I'm actually standing up now, and hopefully I can be supported by the male community and be understood as a person. This actually isn't about selling my body. This is about changing social norms.”

Oh and make sure you don't label him a prostitute. He prefers the term "surrogate lover."

"If you want to be successful in this type of venture, you're not a prostitute. You're a surrogate lover..."

Good news ladies, he also tells Details that he doesn't discriminate but there is one thing he won't do.....

"I don't discriminate based on race, color, creed, ethnicity, or skin tone. Notice I left gender out. That's for a reason."

The first male prostitute is like Rosa Parks?

I have no words....

Haitian Ambassador Responds To Pat Robertson

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Haitian Ambassador Raymond Joseph is speaking out to defend his country following the despicable comments made by televangelist Pat Robertson.

As previously reported Robertson claims that Haiti made a “pact with the devil” causing Tuesday's disaster.

Ambassador Joseph is vehemently refuting those claims and is also providing a very much needed history lesson.

During an appearance on “The Rachel Maddow Show” Joseph made it clear that no such “pact” existed and in fact America should be grateful for the Haitian slave revolt that made the Louisiana purchase possible.

Well said, sir.

Check out Ambassador Raymond Joseph's history lesson below.

To donate to the earthquake relief aid in Haiti, text “Yele” to 501501 to donate $5 or text "Haiti” to 90999 to donate $10 to the American Red Cross.
