Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

The death toll in Haiti is rising following Tuesday's 7.0 earthquake with the number dead expected to hit over 100,000.

The Prime Minister of Haiti Jean-Max Bellerive told CNN that although its virtually impossible to get an exact count he fears over 100,000 people in his country are dead.

“Because we have so much people on the streets right now, we don't know exactly where they were living. But so many, so many buildings, so many neighborhoods totally destroyed, and some neighborhoods we don't even see people.”

He also added that people are doing their best help each other.

“With maturity, people are trying to take care of themselves in some quiet places. People are trying to help each other on the streets.”

N.Y. Governor's Son Arrested For Shooting Dice [Commentary Included]

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

The New York Police Department must be cracking down heavily on any suspicious activity as New York Gov. David Paterson's son clearly rolled snake eyes as he was served the long arm of justice when he was caught playing dice.

Caught red handed, depending on the color of the dice, on Tuesday, Paterson's son, Alex, was issued juvenile reports along with another boy for loitering with the purpose of gambling when authorities found the boys playing dice near his high school in Manhattan.

The teens, fortunately, were released to their relatives only a few hours after being placed in custody.  Paterson emphasizes, however, that they were not arrested.

Well, okay if they weren't arrested, they just took a little joy ride to the police department then.

Although the teens will not have to appear in court nor have any charges placed against him, his juvenile report will be kept on file at the precinct of the police department's youth services division until the age of 17.

So basically, he might have a little record on his hands.  Way to build up that credibility on the school yard.

Gov Paterson has spoken with Fox News since the incident and admitted that he son was in fact playing dice, but was not playing for money.  A debit card, however, was found in a subway garbage can, but Paterson stated that his son never used it.

Times have changed, sliding debit card for dice game, even though that wasn't what went on here.

For future notice, it's a little suspect to be doing such activities in potentially suspicious areas.

Now see what happens when you shooting dice and playing craps, sooner than later, you're gonna crap out.

Don't be like this guy, be better.

Is Trey Songz the Mixtape Weezy of R&B? [Editorial]

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

While the music world and Hip Hop fans alike know how many songs have been able to become a smash hit, it's even better when someone can do a full time jack move with a freestyle that makes some fans that the song should have belonged to that particular artist in the first place.

Once Jay Z deboed Joe Budden's “Pump It Up” track, everyone was very pleased with the results outside of Jumpoff who decided to take his beat back and give it a revamp so everyone knew that it was his for a reason.

Caster Semenya To Return To Competition

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Despite the media frenzy about her transgender testing, Caster Semenya is free to compete in upcoming International competitions.

As previously reported, Semenya underwent gender testing by the IAAF to determine if she was truly born a woman after unexpectedly winning an 800-meter competition.

Although the results were thought complete and being kept quiet, the IAAF maintains that the testing is still “ongoing.”

Despite that, the sprinter form Johannesburg is free to run again.

She was also allowed to keep her 800-meter gold medal from the IAAF World Championships where she dusted her competition at a time of 1 minute 55 seconds.

Semenya will race in local competitions before making her International return.

J. Cole Talks “Too Much” For Debut; “Lights Please” [Video Included]

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

“When you love someone, you let them step on you in a way you wouldn't let anyone else step on you.”

While some artists flood the Internet with an endless stream of music and exclusives, some are more strategic with building their momentum and make sure that every drop is something special and is material that will always be in high demand.

The true relevancy of an artist is not determined by how much an artist lets out, but more of the consistency of the fan base wanting more even when they are away.

Since The Warm Up, J. Cole hasn't dropped a slew of new material outside of “Unabomber” along with his feature on “Just Begun” and “Playground” which didn't make the cut for the mixtape that dropped back in June.

Quietly in the lab banging out material, Cole has given more hope of him coming with the announcement of (more...)
