Republican Senator Jim Bunning Says "Tough Shyte" To The Unemployed

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Republicans sure know how to hold up progress. As an estimated 1.2 million Americans are anticipating the Senate decision regarding the extension of unemployment benefits and Jim Bunning, a Republican from Kentucky, is single-handedly blocking the action needed to prevent people from prematurely losing their unemployment benefits next month.

The Democratic senators, who are trying to a pass a 30-day extension for the unemployed, have literally stooped to begging the Kentucky Senator to drop his objection and give consent to make the decision unanimous.  But the stubborn senator simply replied,

“Tough Shyte.”

At one point the debate “continued on until nearly midnight,”  because Bunning is opposing the money required to extend the benefits being added to the deficit and is proposing that the extension be paid with stimulus funds.

Stimulus funds?! WTF!  What is really interesting is that the multi-billion dollar automotive industry didn't face this much resistance when it came to their bail out, which clearly contributed to the deficit that Bunning is talking about.

In addition, the bank bail outs as well as the credit card industry and many other billion dollar industries, have all applied for federal assistance to rejuvenate their corporations; all at the tax payers' expense.

I guess my question to Senator Bunning and the rest of the Republicans is when will the people get their bailout? We pay your salary and also each year contribute to a lot of unnecessary programs.  But the programs that are truly beneficial to those in need are either having their funds drastically reduced; or flat out eliminated.

My suggestion for Bunning is next time you decide to waist my money with unnecessary over time, please remember that the deficit that you are talking about also includes your pay check.

Teens Arrested For Cutting Baby Out Of Woman's Womb

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Two teen girls in Columbia are facing attempted murder and grievous bodily harm charges after police say they gave a woman a make-shift caesarean section and cut out her baby in an attempt to steal it.

A 16-year-old and 14-year-old lured 7-month pregnant Maria Amparo Rivera Girata to a building for a fake job interview.

Police say that the 16-year-old, upset that she miscarried her own baby, carried out the plot to steal the child.

Girata's hands and feet were tied down with rope, a knife was held to her throat and her infant was cut out of her uterus.

She was found alive and still conscious but with severe trauma to her abdomen.

Officials are considering looking for a third suspect with medical experience considering that no organs near the uterus were injured despite the woman struggling to get away.

The girls ran away with the baby before being discovered.

The infant, a boy, is alive and believed to be in good health.

SMH...there are some sick, sick people in this world.

Inmate Accidentally Released From Prison Recaptured

Friday, February 26th, 2010

A man sentenced to three consecutive life sentences for shooting his ex-girlfriend and her two daughters was mistakenly released from prison Thursday before being recaptured in West Virginia.

Authorities say 26-year-old Raymond Thomas Taylor pretended to be his cellmate William Johnson in a Baltimore, Maryland prison so he could be released.

22-year-old Johnson kept quiet as officers came to his cell and mistakenly let Taylor go in his place.

When police came to release Johnson, Taylor gave officers the other man's ID card and recited the ID number.

He was then taken to a holding area where a second officer looked at the ID card and let him go.

No one noticed the mix-up until a disgruntled Johnson finally spoken up hours later.

Taylor was found at a childhood friend's home in West Virginia.

When police came to arrest him, he surrendered without struggle.

The two inmates apparently share “similar characteristics” which made it hard for police to tell them apart.

In 2004 Taylor lined his girlfriend and her two daughters against the headboard of a bed and shot them in the body and head.

Tammie Johnson and her daughters, Cierra Johnson and Shatera Brooks were shot several times with a .22-caliber handgun.

All three survived but suffer disabilities.

William Johnson now faces a first-degree conspiracy to escape charge.
SMH....did they really look that much alike or is this another case of "all of us looking alike?"

Come on now....

HHWIRED Exclusive: Common Speaks On Acting, Music & The Streets

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Hip-Hop Wired recently caught up with Common and chopped it up about the crime rate in Chicago and his upcoming music and acting projects.

Peep what Chitown's finest had to say:

Hip-Hop Wired:  I hear you rapping about having this SAG card, are we in danger of you retiring to act fulltime?

Common: I don't see myself retiring, God willing I just keep growing as an artist. I look at different ways to put out music. Right now I'm working on a song with Cassandra Wilson and Terrence Blanchard.  Now that's jazz but I'm doing it different, like I'm not just rapping on it, it's actually more of a spoken word/jazz type of think.

I love Jazz music so it made me think about doing a jazz album at some point. Of course acting is a priority for me and I'm focusing on that, but I want to be able to interview with you and we talk about Oscars. We'll put it out there and make it come to fruition.

Hip-Hop Wired:  You've also been engaging in voiceover work and you just had the Superbowl Gatorade commercial.  Do you think you have a leg up on that considering all your raps?  (more...)

NY Gov. Paterson Will Not Seek Re-Election

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Admist controversy and criticism New York Governor David Paterson is set to pull out his underdog bid for re-election.

The governor is plagued by a domestic-violence scandal involving a top aide and is reportedly losing support of his colleagues in his party.

When one of the governor's aides was taken to court by a woman who accused him of domestic violence, the Governor reportedly spoke to the woman the day before the trial.

The woman did not appear in court the next day and the judge dismissed the case.

An investigation into the occurrence is underway.

Although he will not seek re-election, he is expected to finish out his term.

A press conference on his decision is expected for later today.

Several leaders think the Paterson should do more than just drop his re-election campaign, he should resign.

Senator Bill Perkins tells WNYC,

"If the investigation turns out the way many suspect, his resignation is almost inevitable. If that is the case, then it is in the best interest of the people of New York for him to cut bait now."

Governor Paterson was elected in November 2006 and became governor in March 2008 after the Elliot Spitzer prostitution scandal.
