Ex-Cop Confesses To Katrina Killing Cover-Up

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

An ex-lieutenant in New Orleans pleaded guilty to what many suspected; that police shot and killed unarmed civilians in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and tried to cover it up.

As previously reported an investigation was pending into the shooting of six people on the city's Danziger Bridge six days after the massive hurricane hit.

Six people were hit; two fatally while walking to a grocery store.

The shooting killed a 40-year-old mentally disabled man, Ronald Madison, and 19-year-old James Brissette. The other four people were wounded.

For years the police claimed to shoot after only being shot at.

No weapons were found on the scene.

Ex-officer Michael Lohman, a 21-year veteran of the force, entered a guilty plea of conspiracy to obstruct justice Wednesday.

He says that he and six other officers launched a grand scheme to cover up the killing of the unarmed civilians including fabricating witness statements, planting guns and falsifying reports.

He faces five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Charges are still pending for the other officers involved.

Woman Who Lied About Gang Rape Sentenced To Up To Three Years In Prison

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

A New York woman who lied about three men gang raping her in 2005 has been sentenced to three years in jail.

27-year-old Biurny Peguero was found guilty of perjury after fabricating a story that three men took advantage of her at knife point after leaving a New York City nightclub.

Construction worker William McCaffrey was sentenced to 20 years in jail and served four years before Peguero decided to recant her story in August of 2009.
The other two men were not convicted.

The truth finally came to light after the guilt stricken woman confessed to the lie saying that she “wanted her friends to feel sorry for her.”

Before her sentencing Wednesday, Peguero read a letter of apology she wrote to McCaffrey saying,

"To Mr. McCaffrey, I am aware that nothing I can do or say can bring back the years he spent in jail. I want him to know that I will carry this guilt for the rest of my life, and words cannot describe how deeply sorry I am."

William McCaffrey was not in court yesterday for her sentencing but told the New York Post,

“I wish her the best of luck, jail isn't easy."

She was sentenced to one to three years behind bars.

Happy Physical Day To Allah: The Father: Founder Of The 5%ers

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Every now and then someone comes along and changes the way others view themselves and the world itself, initiating them to think outside of the box.

An individual's legacy is often determined by their great accomplishments while they are still in the physical presence, as well as the everlasting impact those achievements continue to contribute after they have returned to the essence.

Join Hip-Hop Wired as we pay tribute to another one of our unsung Black heroes and celebrate his birth this week.

Allah established The 5%ers, later known as the Nation of Gods & Earths, in the streets of Harlem during the climate of the Black Power movement, in early 1964.

While the torrent heroin epidemic was ravaging the Mecca of Black culture, decimating the family structure, Allah came forth with a conscious effort to restore the high levels of self-esteem which has (more...)

Man Gets Hit By Train Twice In Two Weeks

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

A California man seems to quite possibly have the worst luck ever, after getting hit by a train twice in a two week period.

The 57-year-old man says he fell from a platform Tuesday onto the tracks while an oncoming train was coming.

He says the same thing happened two weeks ago when he was dragged 87 feet by Orange County's Metrolink train.

His hand had to be severed from the wrist after the first incident.

He has since been hospitalized for non life threatening injuries.

Police are currently doing a mental evaluation on the man while they try to figure out how his accidents keep occurring.

The man did not indicate to police that he was trying to take his own life.

Arizona Legislature Wants Obama To Show Birth Certificate For 2012 Run

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Even in the midst of being on the road to one of the most successful turnarounds in US history, some Obama naysayers- all Republicans, arestill requesting proof of his citizenship of the United States.

Although Obama has been in office for over a year, an Arizona State House committee on Tuesday (February 23) approved the measure that would require presidential candidates who want to appear on the ballot in Arizona to submit documents proving they meet the requirements to be President.

Skull Valley republican Judy Burgess, who initiated the proposal, states,

“If people have to prove their citizenship to apply for jobs, or to get a passport, they should have to prove it to run for President.”

According to published reports, nearly half of the Arizona Legislature wants to force President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate to state officials if he runs for re-election, are Republican.

Personally, I don't know why we are still sweating the issue; we had a President that showed eligibility to work in the United States, but lacked skill.

I demand from now on that we pass a bill that requires that Presidential candidates pass a choose your own adventure test. This bill would indicate how successful a president is in handling situations when he is forced to make a decision.

Based on the synopsis, we all know that if the “bill” did exist, we would have never elected past President Bush.  Mostly because he wouldn't have made it past the first story in the test, but secondly because we would have the jump on the fact that he didn't know what he was doing.

I also would like to know where was all this fact checking when Bush led us into the second longest war in our time? Republicans, just get over it. Get off Obama's back already and enjoy the next seven years of hope and possibility.

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

The two alarm blaze that destroyed the third floor of the Philadelphia International Records (PIR) office building has officially been ruled as “incendiary.”

Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers stopped short of calling the fire arson but the official cause was upgraded yesterday from "suspicious" to "incendiary."

"It was set in a way that was not normal. It was set by a human being," Ayers told the Philadelphia Daily News, "Now whether or not it is going to be arson [or accidental] is another case."
