In 2005 the series was nominated for a NAACP Image Award in the category of “Outstanding Comedy Series.”

The animated series is voiced by Regina King (Southland, Ray) as brothers Huey and Riley Freeman, John Witherspoon (Friday After Next) as Robert Jebediah Freeman aka “Granddad,” Cedric Yarbrough (Reno 911), Gary Anthony Williams (Boston Legal), Gabby Soleil (Johnson Family Vacation) and Jill Talley (American Dad).

In season three, guest characters are voiced by an eclectic mix of actors and media personalities, including Bill Maher, Werner Herzog, Ed Asner, Billy Dee Williams, Star Jones and Marion Ross.
