Strip Club Manager Arrested For Hiring 14-Year Old As Topless Dancer

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

Talk about robbing the cradle.  A 14-year old high school freshman girl is causing an uproar as the manager of a Detroit strip club has been charged with several crimes including child sexually abusive activity after it was discovered that he hired the child as a topless dancer in a gentle men's club in Detroit called All Stars.

Andrew Hutson, 31, was arrested Wednesday and could receive up to 20 years.

The 14-year old, whose name is being withheld, was making roughly $350 dollars a night.

According to The Associated Press, Police Chief Warren Evans said,

"It is clear that she danced there for a significant amount of time. It's clear, at least to us, that the club knew or should have known that she shouldn't be there."

The situation came to light after the child's mother physically removed her from the club last week.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy also added,

"Our youth are not some cheap commodity, to be used and cast aside.  We are sending a clear message that if you hire underage women you will face criminal charges."

In defense of Hutson, his brother Billy who works at the club as a porter stated that Andrew “didn't hire her.”

According to The Detroit Free Press, a club employee who refused to give his name showed reporters a Michigan ID card that he said the girl provided upon hiring. The date of birth on the ID indicated she was 21.

The employee said the girl also had a dancer's license -- called a dance card -- as required by city ordinance, but Evans said she did not.

80 In Uganda Die From Drinking Banana Gin

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

Health officials in Uganda have estimated that 80 people have recently died from drinking homemade banana gin laced with methanol, according to BBC News.

Although the Uganda drink banana gin known as “Waragi” has always been popular, it has recently become one of the worst epidemics Uganda has ever dealt with.  The deaths have occurred over the past three weeks in the south-western Kabale district, and authorities are now conducting door to door searches for the gin.

Patrick Tusiime claims,

“So many people had died because relatives did not want to admit that people had been drinking the gin, known as Waragi.”

The gin is drank by many of the poor Uganda people because they cannot afford industrialized alcohol sold in stores.   Over 130 bottles have been seized from homes during searches, and authorities hope to obtain all of the bottles that the citizens are hiding.

Most people who died of the gin became blind and suffered liver and kidney damage before dying.

Man Cured Of HIV After Stem Cell Transplant

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

According to the New England Journal of Medicine, a  42-year old patient with leukemia in Germany has been said to have no symptoms of HIV in his bloodstream, after a stem cell transplant that took place over 2 years ago.   The patient was transplanted with a donor carrying a gene mutation that confers natural resistance to the virus that causes AIDS.

"The patient is fine," said Dr. Gero Hutter of Charite Universitatsmedizin Berlin in Germany. "Today, two years after his transplantation, he is still without any signs of HIV disease and without antiretroviral medication."

The mutation known as CCR5 is found in about three percent in the white population in Europe.  This mutation basically makes the person almost completely immune to catching the HIV/AIDS virus.  However, a stem cell transplant is considered to be very dangerous and around 1/3 of the individuals who go through such procedure end up dying.

Along with the risky surgery, some doctors claim that they don't believe that although he may seem clean of the virus, the HIV virus can hide in other parts of the body until it exposes itself.

With Stem Cell research already a controversial subject in politics, I'm sure we are going to hear from all of the parties.

Utah Set To Execute Killer By Firing Squad

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

The state of Utah is making a controversial move this summer now that a State Court has decided to uphold a convicted murderer's final request, to be put death by a firing squad.

49-year-old Ronnie Lee Gardner murdered a man 25 years ago and filed a series of appeals that kept him on death row.

His appeals were exhausted this morning however and when asked by a court judge how he'd like to die he answered,

“I would like the firing squad, please."

Utah is the only state to use a firing squad as means of execution.

According to Utah state laws he had the option of choosing between lethal injection and a five man firing squad with rifles.

Utah previously executed two other men by firing squad, Gary Gilmore in 1977 and John Albert Taylor in 1996.

Oklahoma is the only other state that finds this type of punishment “acceptable” but by law will only do it if lethal injection is deemed “unconstitutional.”

The state of Oklahoma has yet to use that method.

It's uncommon that Gardener was given a choice of how he wanted to die since state legislators ruled that option out in 2004.

However since Gardener was imprisoned before that, his right to choose was upheld.

Gardner will be executed June 18.

Dear Diary: Scott Storch's Trickin' > Scott Storch's Momma

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Dear diary…babies are such a nice way to start people and that's probably why people have them.  In addition to the aforementioned benefits, children are probably a parent's most valuable resource and the best hope for their financial future.

See, unfortunately most American's have retirement portfolios that are written in red ink, which in turn means that most Americans might spend their “Golden Years” living in poverty.  But…

Say you had a son whose music catalogue was worth $70 million.  The last thing you'd think you'd have to worry about is living like a poor person with lots of money.  But say your son did stuff like gave heiress Paris Hilton a Maybach, purchased her a $2 million necklace and (more...)
