Miami bred rapper Rick Ross may be facing another don in court, this time it's not a DJ but the real Rick Ross who says that the rapper is using his name illegally.

According to sources, drug king pin Rick Ross (the real one) is planning to file a lawsuit against Rick Ross the rapper and his label home Def Jam Records, claiming the rapper stole his identity.

The case originally started in 2006 when Ross sent a cease-and-desist letter to Def Jam regarding the issue which Ross alleges were ignored. Upon the real Rick Ross's release from prison in 2009, he made it clear that the rapper was using not only his name, but his entire image as a drug dealer to sell records.

Ross claims that Miami rapper Rick Ross (William Leonard Roberts II) signed a multimillion dollar deal in 2006, based on his image and likeness as a drug dealer.

The real Rick Ross controlled thousands of workers at the height of his power in the mid-1980's, who dealt millions of dollars worth of cocaine each day.

In 1996, Ross was sentenced to life in prison for attempting to purchase over 100 kilograms of cocaine, but the verdict was over turned after a series of explosive articles appeared in the San Jose Mercury News, which exposed the C.I.A.'s role in distributing cocaine to Black communities to fund Contra fighters in Nicaragua.

The real Rick Ross and his legal team have dubbed their lawsuit as “The War Against the 4” (Def Jam, Universal, Roberts and more), “The Thriller of the Dealers”,  and “The ‘Real' vs. the ‘Rap' Deal.”

This summer promises to give us exciting times in the rap music business as Rick Ross ‘fights the power” for control of his name in commerce “by any means necessary.”

The real “Rick Ross” has been actively touring urban America spreading his message, and motivational speaking to at-risk youth, the hood, ex-offenders, and recovering addicts, about the powers of redemption, and he spoke at the annual Savior's Day as a guest of Minister Louis Farrakhan.

A movie about his life, written by producer Nick Cassavettes, is slated for release next year.

The rapper Rick Ross (William Leonard Roberts II) is preparing to release his fourth album Teflon Don this summer.

I knew it would eventually happen. All these dudes are idolizing these 80's players knowing they ain't built like these old skool dudes. Even Trick Daddy exposed fatboy for trying to badmouth him! This is a lesson for you young dudes, be yourself! And if they want you to portray someone else, let your fans know its just entertainment!

  • Freeway Rick

You can check out the real rick ross website for more updates at http://www.freewayenterprise.com

  • Money First

First of all how are you going to sue someone for a "street name" that you made off of the drug game. If you a real "OG" then stop trying to come up off of BS!!!!

  • Alimah

    @ money first

way deeper than that..trust he has no need to "come up" off this commericialized fat boy..
Look at Philly Freeway, you see he aint comin after him, cuz Freeway showed RESPECT to the og when he was away. Real recognize real.
Officer Ricky is a fraud, you just mad u bought it

  • Mars211

@ Money first!! Rick Ross is his real name, not a nickname. Its like if you someone decided to call themselve Tupac Shakur and start writing raps and telling stories reliving his exploits and career like they were really there story. Besides what grown A$$ man play make believe wiith somebody else identity. Sounds like some b!@tch ish to me. For the record Freeway Rick wasn't a gangster. He was more like a business man that cornered the crack cocaine market in Los Angeles because of the cheap cocaine he was able to get from his connect.

You can add 50 cent to the mix as well. Its sad how these record labels have to create a "fake image" in order to sell records. Most of these hip hop artists are *****s and lived very priviledged lives and not all are from the ghetto and are drug dealers like they promote in the songs. We are living in some very sad times.

    • rita(B-MORE BABY)

      @Mars.

You CANT really add 50 cents to that list. True he did use the name of a (deceased) 80's hustler that he apparently idolized but Curtis Jackson's rep is his own. A lot can be said about him but what people can not say is that the rep he had before the industry was falsified. He built an empire off of his experiences and created a marketed strategy that can never be used again. Plus, he is trying to get away from that image now. (OH--AND I DONT EVEN LIKE FIFTY CENT THE RAPPER)--I RESPECT CURTIS JACKSON THE BUSINESSMAN.

Officer Ricky on the other hand--everything he says is completely based off Rick Ross' life. Never once did he pay homage to this man whose birth name he chose to utilize and make millions off. So disrespectful. Im not sure if you know this but 50 helped initate the lawsuit and even warned Officer Ricky that it was coming.

Freeway--a whole different type of sitaution--those PHILLy boys are the realest.

Real Talk 4 everybody wondering why the real Rick Ross would sue, Junior well think about it, thugs and gangstas take what they do very seriously, my brother is a very well known member of an LA gang and he'd be *****ed if he found out someone was using his name and exploiting his lifestyle making money off of it, especially if he felt the man was a fake gangsta, If Officer Ricky (Junior) was such a thug then y did he need to steal someone elses identity?? And Diddy and Cease talking bout he's the next BIG? yeah ok BIG was'nt pretending to be someone else!

  • Hub

I think some forms of rap music is part CoIntelpro, promoting negative images of the black community. What ever happen to promoting hip-hop and postive images of black people?

  • bylaw99

Finally, I can come to a site where people talk intelligently instead of ignorant..I just left sohh.com about this same story and all they can seem to say is "Why this old n**** trying to sue, he aint got that name patent or trademarked"..I liked to fell out my chair like you dumb a** thats his legal name on his birth certificate stupid, of course he can sue William for using his name and history without his permission to promote his career..fool thats slander and false representation. These young kids kill me!

  • Nik

I hope that the real Rick Ross wins his case if not for money but for principle. most rappers are fake anyway and ofetn times are not called on it, I understand that you will become a puppet for the right amount of money and that is truly sad. they say one thing and then completely and grossly do the other. I dont even listen to minstream rap because its all garbage and its just one long commercial.

  • MY MY MY

@ MONEY FIRST-RICK ROSS IS HIS REAL NAME, HE ALSO WENT BY FREEWAY RICKY ROSS (WHICH THE RAPPER FREEWAY STOLE) & RICKY ROSS. THESE RAPPERS R BEING EXPOSED FOR THE LIES THEY LIVE. A PERSON THAT DOES NOT STAY TRUE TO THEM SELVES WILL ALWAYS BE A *****STA IN MY BOOK. RICK ROSS IS TRULY A *****STA FOR TRYING TO PORTRAY SOMETHING HE IS NOT. I LIKE WILL SMITE BECAUSE HE IS TRUE TO HIMSELF. MOST OF THESE RAPPERS SEE THEIR 1ST JAIL CELL AFTER BECOMING FAMOUS OFF OF HYPE. RAP SHOULD BE RATED "F" FOR FICTION.

  • MY MY MY

IF THE "GANGSTAS" WANT TO BE APART OF SOMETHING, A BROTHER HOOD-FEEL LIKE REAL MEN, STRONG OR WHAT EVER CHUMPED UP REASONS THEY CLAIM FOR JOINING GANGS AND LIVING A DEAD IN LIFE. THESE CLOWNS WANT TO BE USEFUL, JOIN THE NEW BLACK PANTHER PARTY, THE NATION OF ISLAM, OR START A ORGANIZATION THAT IS FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF OUR COMMUNITY-

LIKE THE JEWISH PPL HAVE THEIR "JEWISH DEFENSE LEAGUE" WHO LIVE & DIE BY THE PHRASE "protect Jews from antisemitism by whatever means necessary"...THESE GANGSTAS WANT TO BE OF USE- REVAMP THE BLACK LIBERATION ARMY (WHICH ALSO STARTED UP AROUND THE SAME TIME AS THE JEWISH DEFENSE LEAGUE-BUT THEY R STILL ACTIVE TODAY) THE ONLY FLAG THESE CLOWNS SHOULD BE WAVING IS THE RED, BLACK & GREEN.

Do you mean the Anti-Defamation League? Because they represent and protect all people of color that are being discriminated against and defamed. I organized activities in high schools for ADL. Holla!!!

Yo, and bring back the panthers! Black people need to redefine ourselves in this country. Word 'em up!

What IS a "fake" rapper anyway? What is a REAL rapper? You know the saying, "All the worlds a stage......." EVERYTHING we do for money is an ACT. We play our part as well as we can in order to have a place in this Marketplace - and get PAID.

We are ALL rappers.. We all express ourselves, our message, our thoughts, our experiences, our likes, our dislikes, our humor, our darkness, our light, our SCRIPT (hmmm)... through words.

The only difference is that most of us dont set our words to music.

Our world is so confused but very few of us ever acknowledge, or are even aware, that we as individuals are a part of this confusion.
