Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Former Bad Boy Black Rob recently sat down to discuss his transition from the big house to the streets and how the music scene has changed since fans last heard from him.

In the candid interview with Truestoriesradio.com, Black Rob revealed that the biggest adjust upon his release initially was remembering not to wear “drawls” in the shower.

“I remember the first day I got out,” Black Rob recalled in the interview, “I hopped in the shower and was relaxing, but I noticed that I was showering with my drawls on. Once I woke up I took them off, but up north there definitely wasn't no free balling.”

When asked about the skinny jeans fad, Rob states: (more...)

Supreme Court Toughens Laws For Sex Offenders…Stay In Jail Indefinitely

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Sex offenders now have more than just other inmates to worry about, according to the U.S. Supreme Court, depending on the crime; sex offenders may have to spend indefinite time behind bars.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Monday (May 17) that the federal government now has the power to keep some sex offenders behind bars for life after they have served their sentences if officials determine those inmates may prove "sexually dangerous" in the future.

"The federal government, as custodian of its prisoners, has the constitutional power to act in order to protect nearby (and other) communities from the danger such prisoners may pose," Justice Stephen Breyer wrote in a statement for the 7-2 majority.

The issue of the federal government deeming indefinite sentences necessary was originally determined after the passing of the 2006 Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act. The law, which includes a provision allowing indefinite confinement of sex offenders was approved by most states until a federal appeals court in Richmond, Virginia, ruled lawmakers had overstepped their authority by passing it, prompting the current high court appeal.

Until then, most violent sex offenses were handled at the state level, and currently at least 20 states run programs in which sexual predators are held indefinitely or until they are no longer considered dangerous. The federal government's civil commitment program is relatively new.

Justice Breyer

"The statute is a 'necessary and proper' means of exercising the federal authority that permits Congress to create federal criminal laws, to punish their violation, to imprison violators, to provide appropriately for those imprisoned and to maintain the security of those who are not imprisoned but who may be affected by the federal imprisonment of others," Breyer continued.

Although many were for the interjection of the federal government, Justice Clarence Thomas said the federal government overstepped its bounds.  Wow.  Go figure he's he the holdout.

Justice Thomas

"Congress' power, however, is fixed by the Constitution," Thomas wrote in opposition to the law. "It does not expand merely to suit the states' policy preferences, or to allow state officials to avoid difficult choices regarding the allocation of state funds."

The Adam Walsh act was named after the son of John Walsh, host of TV's "America's Most Wanted.” Adam was kidnapped and murdered by a suspected child molester in 1981.

The act also increased punishments for certain federal crimes against children and created a national registry for sex offenders.

14 Year Old Girl Drugged, Raped and Tortured In Basement [Video]

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Enduring two weeks of punishment, a 14-year-old girl was repeatedly raped, drugged and beaten by two men while confined to a Crown Heights basement located in Brooklyn.

Finally able to make her escape, the victim identified Anthony King and Kevin Evans, both 24, as being the culprits behind the heinous act, according to court records.

Officials stated that the girl, along with her friend, were picked up by Evans on April 27 where they were driven to New Jersey and engaged in the use of heroin.  Upon returning to New York, that is where the plan was first initiated.

"They get back into the automobile, the complainant's friend is dropped off at her home and the complainant is not allowed to exit the automobile," Assistant District Attorney Wilfredo Cotto told Judge Kevin McGrath at King's arraignment Friday.

Being handcuffed to a chair in the basement of a home located on President St, the young girl was trapped for over two weeks and was injected, by Evans, with a substance that knocked her unconscious, according to prosecutors.

Nas And Damian Marley Release “Distant Relatives”

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

With a recording process stretching all the way back to 2008, the concept created by Nas and Damian Marley has finally arrived as Distant Relatives hit stores today.

Looking to provide more awareness on the country and the history of Africa, and integrating it with the ancestry of the entire human race, the two artists seem to have an aim of bridging the gap specifically between the motherland and the United States.

As the project dropped today, a bonus cut was released as more of an incentive to go pick up the project.

Having the proceeds go towards Africa and teetering the possibility of building a school in the Congo, this project is about much more than album sales, so go out and support the history.

Jamaica's Minister of Tourism Upset With Drake's “Find Your Love” Video

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Apparently, the art of storytelling isn't something that is embraced by all, especially if they believe that it is depicting something in a bad light.

Recently  shooting and releasing the visual for the single “Find Your Love”, Drake has been under fire by certain folks of Jamaica, who feels the imagery portrayed is doing nothing more than giving the country negative publicity with the references to gang life.

Edmund Bartlett, the Caribbean country's Minister of Tourism, said artists should be mindful that the message that is conveyed about Jamaica is wrong.

“Care has to be taken by all, including our creative artists, in portraying images of our destination and people.  Gun culture (more...)

Alleged Car Thieves Receive Beat Down At Gucci Mane Video Shoot [Photos]

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Sometimes ni**as just ask for it.

It seems two individuals thought it was a good idea to break into cars while in the “vicinity” of Gucci Mane's “Anti Social” video shoot.

While no one from Gucci Mane's camp was apparently involved in the incident, it appears the two individuals had a meeting of face and head to boot and concrete.

Left bloody, incoherent and unconscious, it appears that a lesson was learned.

Trying to steal someone's car with eyewitnesses everywhere is not the smartest move.
