A mysterious South Carolina man that managed to accumulate nearly 60% of the votes in Tuesday’s Senate primary is being asked to step down due to his criminal record.
32-year-old Alvin Greene won the Democratic nomination without raising any campaign funds beating out four term state lawmaker Vic Rawl who raised $186,000 as he vied for the position.
Greene is currently unemployed and reports that he’s a military veteran.
His reported ties to the armed forces are being questioned however especially after an interview with ABC News when he could not produce any photos of himself in uniform.
When asked to show pictures of himself as a serviceman, Greene instead showed the reporter his bronze shoes from when he was a baby.
Uhhhhh.
With doubt mounting around Greene, the Democratic Party is asking that he step down from his new position especially now that the Associated Press has found records of a felony charge.
The AP reports that he was arrested in November for showing obscene Internet photos to a University of South Carolina student and faces up to five years in prison.
Greene has refused the calls for his resignation saying that he’s the “People’s Choice.”
