Woman Tackled By Police While In Labor Wins Lawsuit Against Authorities [Video]

Friday, June 18th, 2010

A Jacksonville, Florida woman is seeing justice now that she won her lawsuit against police that tackled her while she was seven months pregnant and in labor.

Five years ago Melanie Williams called 911 and told dispatchers that she thought she was having a miscarriage but was somehow disconnected from the call.

Williams, who was bleeding and going into premature labor, took matters into her own hands and decided to drive herself to the hospital, running a red light on the way.

Officers pulled her over for the traffic violation but the woman told police she thought she was losing her baby and decided to speed off.

Police followed the obviously pregnant woman to the hospital and tackled her inside.

Surveillance footage shows officers knocking the bleeding woman down as she screams, “I'm pregnant. Someone help me, I am bleeding!” while an officer puts his foot on her back and neck before escorting her out of the emergency room and into a squad car.

She gave birth prematurely ten days later to her daughter Malaysia.

A charge against authorities for excessive force was dropped and Williams settled her lawsuit out of court with police for $65,000 instead.

The officers involved were reportedly disciplined internally for their actions.

Only $65,000 though?

Man Posing As Woman Arrested For Molesting Two Girls

Friday, June 18th, 2010

A 36-year-old Chicago man was arrested Saturday after police say he pretended to be a woman to gain access to two girls he sexually assaulted.

Jamelia Lillian Sanders was taken into custody on Chicago's Southside for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

Police say he told the relatives of two girls, ages 7 and 9 that he was a female and was allowed to ”take the little girls out” and spend time alone with them.

According to police, the children told their family members that Sanders sexually assaulted them and threatened to kill them if they told.

He is believed to have molested the 7-year-old from 2007-2008 and reportedly began touching the 9-year-old this year.

The family of the two girls is believed to have taken matters into their own hands, hence the picture of him in a hospital gown and on crutches.

He is being held in jail without bond.

It appears that a beef has finally been jump started by Twitter as Slaughterhouse's Joe Budden and The Pack's Lil' B are getting it in.

If this what Lil B sounds like when he's got beef, then he needs to bring Joe Budden into the studio every time he records because the Cali MC definitely went in one  of his best songs I've heard from him so far.

Who knew but don't expect Budden to take this lying down.  This is what he lives for.

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

An 11-year-old girl suffering from sickle cell is making strides in her treatment after doctors say they gave her an I-Pad to help aid her healing.

Doctors at the St. Louis Children's Hospital are allowing patient Brittany Butts to utilize an I-Pad for “education, distraction and preparation” as she deals with the disease that lowers her red blood cell count.

The technology is part of the hospital's strides to make visits more enjoyable for their young patients, especially those with chronic illnesses like Brittany's.

She tells NBC 13 that she was shocked that the facility encouraged her to use the product.

"I can't believe it but they do have a lot of cool stuff!"

She also says the Apple product has helped her feel much better.

“You can have fun with them, and it can take your mind off of your pain.”

The hospital currently has two I-Pads for the children but wants to expand to 15, one for each child life specialist on staff.
