Brooklyn Bodega and YUME Music have come together to showcase “Hip-Hop In Brooklyn” starting on July 5th.  The showcase will include various aspects of the Hip-Hop culture ranging from educational Hip-Hop  talk to live performances from many artists.

Monday’s show will include a competition between six artists for two slots competing to perform on the main day, July 10th. The contestants are Kalae All Day, St. Joe Lous, Poetic Republic, The Crow, Mikeflo and Ashy J Bowz.

They will becompeting with Large Professor who will be acting as a DJ for the day.

Tuesday July 6th will be the Bodega Education Initiative; the legacy of J Dilla will be the focus for the day. A panel discussion will explore the work of Dilla and his impact on music in an educational way.  Q-Tip, Rayday, Ellis, and the J Dilla crew will join Muareen Nancy who is JD’s mother.

On Wednesday The Brooklyn Montage will be at Heaven Studio where a collaboration of art, live music, and film will take place. A film screening of Juice will be shown followed by an after party.

Thursday it’s all about the Deejay’s. The Music Hall Of Williamsburg will be spotlighting famous DJ’s such as DJ Spinna, Bobbito Garcia, FJ Rhettmatic, and DJ Rob Swift.

July 9th will feature a block party for the youth and Hip-Hop. It will be a very family friendly event and will focus on Hip-Hop’s impact on social change and individual empowerment.

All of these events lead up to the big day, Saturday July 10th, where many special guests will be performing such as De La Soul, Fashawn, Rakka, DJ Babu, and many more!
