Update: Wyclef Jean Responds To Sean Penn's Criticism

Wyclef Jean is responding to actor Sean Penn for publicly criticizing him after announcing his official bid for President Of Haiti.

As previously reported Penn was quoted saying that the impoverished country's next leader had to be “genuinely willing to sacrifice” and that he “hadn't seen or heard of Wyclef since he'd traveled to Haiti to help relief efforts."

Now Wyclef's firing back at the actor and saying that he should meet with him to “fully understand the man.”

“I just want Sean Penn to fully understand I am a Haitian, born in Haiti and I've been coming to my country ever since (I was) a child. He might just want to pick up the phone and meet, so he fully understands the man.”


Clef is also facing opposition from his very own bandmate Pras from the Fugees.

Pras has been adamant about not endorsing his old musical partner and instead encouraged people to vote for his opponent Michel Martelly.

    Even though Sean Penn has helped relief efforts during disasters I still don't find him to be that approachable or likable he seems standoffish. I will go with Wyclef.

    i'll side with sean penn you don't expose your country's people and continue to drag them back to the dark ages. saying clean up efforts in haiti could be farmed out to the locals for 3 dollars a day. man ; we are in the 21st century. of course you have people here in the USA too , who are not living their just exsistng, uneducated and ready to line up and follow anyone over the cliff. no respect for weclef...... may god have mercy on the people of haiti cause w/ weclef as president you are going to need it. anyway what is his political and educational background for holding an office of that stature?
