Police arrested a man in Cheektowag, New York after they pulled him over and found a live cat in his trunk covered in oil and spices seemingly being prepared for a meal.

51-year-old Gary Korkuc  has been charged with animal cruelty after police stopped him for a routine traffic stop Sunday.

Authorities say they heard meowing in his trunk and discovered 4-year-old cat, Navarro, in a cage covered in oil, crushed peppers and red chili pepper.

When they asked him why he was “marinating” the animal, Korkuc told them that the cat was “mean, possessive, greedy and wasteful” but said the cat was pregnant and miscarried, and not dripping in sauce.

He tells WGRZ-TV,

"That was its blood and feces, and I was taking it was taking it back over to the SPCA when they stopped me.”

Police deny his allegations however and report that that the cat is a male.
